The offset that works with an 18X10 Square setup
Fitted my new track rims yesterday. CCW C10's. I'm happy to report that 18X10 with a 25 offset works perfectly all around. No rubbing at full lock, good clearance with Dinan Springs installed (1/2 inch drop). Fills out wheel wells nicely. Now will be able to rotate tires for better wear between track sessions. There is monster clearance in these rims for BBK's.
Removed the back plates behind the brake rotors, hopefully that will help with brake cooling. Was able to get 2.2 degrees negative camber with the dinan camber plates installed. Drove on highway and not too squirrelly even with the extra camber. Will see how my street tires wear with this setup. Going to PBIR (formerly Moroso), the gumball rally participants are going to be there after their cross country run. Next weekend going to Sebring. I think I am getting everything dialed in, my weakest link is now my brakes (stock rotors and calipers, Castrol SRF, SS lines, Ferodo pads, back plate behind rotors removed). Looking forward to trying out the new springs, camberplates, rims, slicks tomorrow. |

Nice. How long did it take you to remove the backing plate/shield? I don't know how fast PBIR is, but I suggest that you monitor your rotor temps, and turn it down a notch if they approach 600C at the paddock. I use an infrared thermometer. I'm getting my Dinan springs and camber plates installed Monday. Looking forward to your track impressions.

Very happy with the Dinan springs/camber plates. The car corners much flatter with minimal roll. Less dive on hard braking. The ride feels no harsher, just more controlled. I believe the camber plate changes the geometry of the front suspension such that it negates the 1/2 inch drop the dinan springs provide. The rear is definitely lower, the front is not.
The brakes definitely ran cooler with the rotor back plate cut off. The fronts unbolt when the suspension is taken down to put the camber plates in. The rears have to be cut off. The biggest difference was the hoosiers. Such a difference running track rubber vs the PS2's. After seeing my car on the black track rims I think I'll need to powder coat my OEM 19's. |

Looks awesome! Is that the painted satin black finish?

Lucid, let me know your impressions after you track the dinan springs. Noticed that Dinan recently added a front sway bar to their offerings. Are you doing this as well? Car really is pretty flat through corners.
Wheels are shotpeened black anodized, not painted. Supposed to be more durable. Tires are 275/35's. Don't know if 285's would fit the front, likely a bit ambitious... |

Cool. It is hard to tell from the pics but does it look different from the typical painted matte black?

Will do. I'm supposed to be at Limerock next weekend with BMW CCA if I can sort some pad issues out. I saw the sway bar on the Dinan website. It wasn't available when I ordered the springs and the plates. I think I'll hold off on that to see some reviews, etc.

Here are some pics of 18x10s mounted with 285/30/18 V710s. These are for my E36, but I figured I'd mount them up just to check. The wheel offset is 40 and I have a 12mm spacer in front and 15mm spacer in the rear. The front fits just right with only 1 degree of negative camber (suspension is stock). There is a lot more room in the rear.
This should make for a pretty good autox setup. The smaller overall diameter helps quite a bit (increasing the effective rear gear ratio), which should help in the tighter sections.
