Urgent help LOL: M3 Exhaust tip options?

Hey,

Here's the story: I bought the Vorsteiner type 2 diffuser for our car and installed it today. I was planning on keeping the stock exhaust since I did the OEM perforated modification to it and love the sound. I would highly recommend it if you're just looking for a deeper, throater, and significantly louder exhaust. No drone either.

Back to the topic... so I installed the diffuser, and realized that the diffuser completely blocks the exhaust tips from the top and the sides so that you can barely see them unless you're standing directly from behind. Basically the exhaust tips now look like s**t. I didn't realize this since I've only been viewing pics online.

So here's my question, where can I buy exhaust tips for our cars? I particularly like the Akrapovic and the Eisenmann LeMans designs (bigger diameter). Are there any available that are similar to these? Also, is it possible to mount the tips so they extrude more from the back to match the diffuser?

I need a quick solution as I'm heading back to the garage next week. Any suggestions?

Thanks!

Good question... I want to see some answers as I'm somewhat in the same boat.

I had been considering getting the black edition tips but noticed that like most edition BMW parts they are made for the e92. I think they are a bit longer than the e90 tips. They might be just long enuf to protrude out beyond the diffuser. Can anyone confirm this?

Ahhh....the wonderful world of modding where one mod leads to another which leads to another, etc.

I'm actually grateful to you for posting this. I was thinking about the V2 diffuser myself. Now I might have to reconsider. I really like the stock tips. The thick walls make them very visible and I like their overall length and positioning.

The one thing I don't like about tips like Akra is that they look like fake tips. I want the whole tip to be properly welded to the can.

One thing I did do was to put a good metal polish on the rear muffler and polish the weld sites with a dremel tool. Helps the rear to look "okay".

FWIW E92 tips are about 1.5" longer than E90.

I did the OEM mod too and I was going to change the tips but I figured out that it just took the right diffuser to make the stock tips look perfect! I have the Hamman diffuser and I love the way it accentuates the edges of the stock tips. Take a look:

If your exhaust tips are making you feel inadequate, have you tried extenze?

LOL, you dink! Haha

I'm seriously surprised no one seemed to mention this over the years on the forum. It really negatively affects the look of the tips.

I Think it's too late for a new diffuser. The only other one I was interested in was the arkym one which looks very aggressive, maybe a little too much.

Can the OEM tips be mounted extruding more? I also like the thick walled look of the OEMs.

Maybe contact the guys at Autocouture? They have exhaust tip options for the OEM exhaust mod so they can probably help you out.

Thanks, I'm not sure who you're referring to. The autocouturemotoring.com website?

Do you guys know of an application where the tips are 3.25 - 3.5" diameter tips vs the 3" stock tips? But on top of that the exhaust tip having a lenght of 8 - 8.5" versus the stock 7.5"? I want it to be exposed from the top with the diffuser on.

I saw Technic's exhaust tips, his are nearly perfect. Any idea where to get those? I PMed him, waiting for a reply.

I have the Fabspeed tips that clamp on. The OEM muffler can could easily be set up to accept these tips. With the diffuser its nice to have adjustable tips so you can get everything dialed in to you liking.

Wow, thank you! That's exactly what I want: angled, thick walled, 3.25-3.5" tips that are adjustable to the exact length. Perfect!

I can't find these on the Fabspeed website. Is there someone on this site I could speak to? Any idea of the cost? Btw, is that a 3D style rear diffuser, where do you buy the diffuser so that the there is a fin in the middle, is it the ebay one? Looks amazing.

Yeah, those tips look awesome!

I'm interested in those tips as well, could you please provide me the details on where you got them and how much you paid for them?

@Big Mac, since you're from Toronto as well, if you get them, maybe we can order them at the same time to save on shipping and brokerage costs!

Thanks,
KJ

I would be down with ordering them with you guys. Looks like I'll have to call Fabspeed on Monday and ask about pricing and shipping.

Those fabspeed pipes are 3.25". Probably more approriate in diameter for our cars vs the 3.5" --83 vs 90mm
