Low end of the market M3 pushing it?
hey everyone first post, today I hit half my target goal for a weekend sports car and have 6 more months to raise the rest. (40k total)
I've noticed there are a few E46 M3s under 50K now, thing is I want the SMG and I think that is just asking for trouble at this price point no? Alternatively I could save longer and go into the 50k+ range but I'm not sure how much longer I can wait. Have had some time with the car already and I love it, counting down the months till I can actually start looking for one without "dreaming" The car will only be driven on the weekends and randomly during the week should I need to drive anywhere, my work is less than 6 minutes from my house so no point driving. I have a lot of reading up to do and research ahead of me before I get myself into a bitter lemon. |

If you want something now, and can get it, then get it if you really want it. I took 6 months to find the right E92, and am more than happy with it.

Lower price is due to higher kms, average condition or combination of the 2. So generally expect higher maintenance costs and corresponding lower value come re-sale time.
People aren't stupid, if they have a nice example they aren't going to give it away- dealers are the same. |

I've been answering my own questions reading forums and googling thanks guys for the info thus far, I'll probably end up saving longer really don't want to finance anything especially for a weekend car thanks again.

There is a few for sale asking under 90K for the 07 model with under 50K's, less than 15k PA. I have a mate who bought new in late late 07 and he is still crying into his milk after I showed him carsales, he thought he was looking at over 100k still

Mine was one of the first customer cars. I don't care what they are going for now because I have no intensions to part with it.
The dealer offered me $75k for a six-year old E46 M3 when I bought the E92, but I sold mine privately. It looks like by the time the new M3 arrives in 2013/14, the E92 will be worthless and could be offered under $50k as a trade-in. That's pathetic. From what I have heard, unlike the E46 M3, the E92 M3s have sold well in Australia. It is good for BMW but not for customers.
