I debadged my 323Ci upon delivery in 2000;
I'll do likewise for my 330i. FWIW, in Europe, not only are many BMW's debadged, but also an equal number of Mercedes and Audi's.

I don't think debadging the car makes that much of a difference as far as aestheics go. However, we all have our own tastes.
As for the proclaimed 330i vs 325i rivalry, who gives a darn? They are both the same car and drive very well. The 330i is a fast car, but the 325i has lots of pep as well. The only reason why I ordered the 330i is because with the 325i loaded like I wanted it, it was a few grand shy from the 330i. It just made more sense to get the 330i. |

Wow I don't really post on this site, since I'm more of a E60 fan but I also adore the E90. I have to say I found this thread quite intriguing. There is definitely truth to both sides of the argument. As humans we must accept both sides as facts, but since we are on the internet and since with all the technology in the world we still can't read each other's mind take the person's word for it instead of the over generalizations. On the E60 forums & M5board, you see people De-baging $90,000 brand new M5s and I don't think it's because they want people to think it's a 545, or 530 or 525. Some people actually like something called a sleeper! Anybody into cars knows what that is about. This argument about the 325 & 330 is silly as someone said the power between them is highly insignificant and you can doctor both of them up to be the same exact thing. If you are buying a BMW, I would hope that people buy cars that they can "AFFORD" not just so they can have the 550 badge or whatever. In the end you still have a great car and by the way I think you guys on this site are really funny I enjoyed the thread as it came to a close, rather the the "quarrel" that went on in between. This is what the community is for, great laughs, thanks for making my night! I gotta now figure out how to get rid of this headache I got from laughing so hard.

CLK 240
Yesterday on hwy 210 in MD, saw a white 4 door C class Mercedes badged as CLK 240. I can't believe this owner did not know that the CLK's are only sold as coupes, with just tow models, the 320 (350 for 2005) and 430. The SLK's are the two door roadsters. Since he had paper tags on, I assume the car is just purchased. That type of badging is silly, silly, silly.

Personally, I will debadge my 330i when I get it next year, with that being contingent on my girlfriend, who's paranoid over quite a few things. I don't care if people would question whether it's a 325 over a 330, despite it being relatively easy for a 'true' BMW afficionado to distinguish between the two models. I personally feels it makes the car cleaner. Of course, it is ironically true that there are visibly more debadged 325's around compared to debadged 330's. Perhaps there is that feeling of "oh, I gotta con people that I paid a bit more for a 330 and wasn't being a cheapskate who just went for a 325". A BMW is a BMW...and it's pretty stupid to judge. I know 325 owners who spent quite a lot modding their ride to the point of it exceeding the cost of a 330. They didn't tack on badges like "turboed!" or "24k gold plated!" or "w/ refridgerator installed!". Or, maybe the people who buy 325s are the more frugal types, who thus care more about their cars and thus want to make their rides more pretty. |

exactly!! lol.. i dunno about this debate as i was shallow before and thought that taking the emblem was a cheap way to disguise it... but as a 325i owner now.. i don't feel any shame in it as it is definitely an awesome car... although any bmw 3 series without tint is doing itself injustice...

I'm sure that debadged owners will keep the badges around for resale...
I was never for modifying the car, but the clean look of a debadged car is pretty sleek. Sort of a Brazilian wax for cars hehe |

I would modify the looks of the car in order to enhance the peculiarity of it, especially knowing that the color I am getting, sparkling graphite, is the most popular (and obviously making that the most common)!
Planning to debadge, on top of replacing rondels and hubcaps with carbon fiber rondels and hubcaps. |
