Best Sounding Exhaust for M3 E93
Hi All,
Have seen many opinions about aftermarket exhausts for an M3 E93 and wondering what would be a good option that will have no drone and enough sound to make it worth the purchase + stock X Pipe?!?! I am looking at the Dinan Free Flow Exhaust, but have any E93 owner used this or have any opinions. Have seen plenty videos, but its the threads that usually help determine decisions. So many options as you start to look in that $$$ range. Confusing! _B

I would be willing to spend up to $2.5K for the system. So would appreciate any help here.

Does anyone have videos of what it sounds like inside the car?

I wish I could help, I have had numerous exhaust setups but the first mod I did was test pipes. Can't comment on axle backs alone. Good luck brother but I can tell you of all the exhaust I owned Dinan droned the least.

Exhaust
Since I'm not doing anything at work. I'll chime in.
Since you have a E93 I'm guessing you want the exhaust more for sound and driving enjoyment. I'm not sure how much drone is a factor with the top down. Xpipes (no Cats) will certainly add to the drone and volume of the set up. I've had a Meister Schaft Super GT on my E92 with stock cats and it was fanastic. A little bit of drone at highway speed but not bad. On the same car I had Meister Schaft GT2 with stock cats and the drone was a little more noticable. For some reason it didn't sound quite as good as the Super GT but still pretty good. My last sedan I had an Akropovic with and without cats. That exhaust had alot of bass in it. Not the screaming german V8 sound you get from the first two exhausts. Right before I sold that car it had a Macht Schnell Xpipe with a Meister Schaft GT2. Lots of drone but what came out of the rear of that car was glorious. Tunnels and overpasses were music halls. Two of the overpasses in Colorado Springs had a cheering section of middle schoolers and peddlers when I drove through. |

The s65 engine drones at 1900RPM - 2100RPM and again at 2900RPM - 3100RPM. If you are dct, 2900RPM - 3100RPM equals to 76MPH to about 80MPH. I've owned: Dinan - Very slight drone at 2900RPM - 3100RPM (unnoticeable to most) Corsa (currently on my car) - Very slight drone at 2900RPM - 3100RPM (unnoticeable to most) Active Autoworks - Drones only at 1900RPM - 2100RPM Remus Race - Drones at both RPM Akrapovic - Slight drone/bass at 1900RPM - 2100RPM OEM 4-pipe Mod - Very slight drone at 2900RPM - 3100RPM (unnoticeable to most) They are all noticeable upgrades in sound paired with the stock x-pipe. The Dinan is in the lower/middle of the pack I've owned in terms of loudness; the Remus Race is the screamer of the group. |

If you aren't going catless....
1.MeisterSchaft 2.Ipe 3.remus race I am running Remus race+catless and it is drone city, but the sound is well worth it. |

Try and spend a bit more and get the Akrapovic Evolution. It's a primary cat delete and 100 cell secondary plus resonator.
One of the greatest things about this system is that you will save over 60 lbs of weight due to the full Ti construction. There are a lot of screaming exhausts out there and I do think a lot of them sound good but Akra Evo was my choice for daily driving. |

If keeping the stock midpipe: M Performance exhaust
If willing to remove cats: MRF Velaforza (if you can find it) or Corsa w/ Dinan or Borla midpipe (much easier to find) |

i LOVE my BMW M perf exhaust, sounds amazing. looks nice. not sure i would trade it for anything. it can be quiet, then roar like a race car.
a little vid i did. im not sure the crappy sound of my GOPRO does it justice. but here it is. https://youtu.be/RJE11HRXQQA |

I have the AE Performance rear section. I dont think they are made anymore so they are hard to find. Verry little drone around 1800-2100 rpm, and it sounds amazing at all RPM's. I currently have it paired with the Macht Schnell xpipe. Check out my review by going to the below link. I have a video clip of some revving (with the Xpipe installed FYI).

Ended up with the Dinan Free Flow exhaust. Its not too loud, but just enough to make heads turn when you are downshifting or accelerating...
Posted to YouTube: Overall, I am happy with the decision.... Vroom Vroom!

I got the oem exhaust mod on my E93. Logic was its a low cost investment and if I still had the itch I would get a different exhaust. Still have it 2 years later!
