Cann't wait to see the pictures after installation. BTW, are all the boxes for BBK? Wonder why they cannot be put into one.

Cool! How do you like the SR34? Are they as grabby as some have said?

I will post pics of installation this Friday. Yes, each of the brown boxes contained a caliper, rotor and accessories for rear. The large white box contained the complete front kit minus one rotor, which was in smaller white box. I think they were packaged this way to keep weight and shipping cost down.

The Brembo 365/345 was my second choice! I did not choose because I was told caliper has to be removed to swap pads.

not a big deal. I use endless pads and I double duty with them on and off track and even with slicks they never fade and no squeal on the street. Even then its only the fronts that needs the caliper removed when swapping pads and even then it only takes an extra 5 minutes compared to stoptech, its just 2 bolts on the caliper carrier.

Agree! The endless are a good double duty pad, but a little pricey. Really, I like both, but just chose the ST over the Brembo's for quicker pad changes. I was not aware rears did not have to be removed. I will be using StopTech's new SR34's for track, and since they are noisy I will be swapping pads.

I installed the ST 380/355 DIY and it took longer than expected. I took 6 hrs, not including bleeding the brakes afterwards. The trimming of dust shields was done with a 35K Multi-speed Dremel with EZ-lock cutting wheel. The Dremel cuts through the dust very quickly, and I used a hand file to smooth and remove burs afterwards. I took frequent breaks as working without a lift was killing my back. All I can say is I'm glad it is done, and now I will need a couple days of rest for my lower back. I placed my 18" track wheels on instead to check for any clearance issues. The Apex Arc-8's fits around the 380's with about 3-4 mm clearance. I have not yet done bedding-in but there seems to be adequate stopping power for normal driving.

Thanks man! I'm very happy with them so far. I will try them with the new SR34 race pads in a couple of weeks.

Thanks! The Arc-8's will work with the StopTech 380, but not the Brembo 380. And they are 2.5 pounds lighter than the EC-7's!

I have had mine for 6 mts and I love them. I thought about switching to EC-7's and 18's for my streets. But since it will not be my DD much longer, I would rather put the cash into more track goodies.

What happened to your 08 E90 M3? Your sig says died 3-13 (parts available).

Those look spectacular!!!! Great job on the DIY!!!
These jobs are a back breaker without a lift.
Did you replace your middle brake lines as well?
What kind of fluid are you using?

Thanks! No, I only replaced outer brake lines. I was alternating btw Ate Blue and Gold, but I replaced fluid with Motul 600. I will switch to Motul 660 for the summer, since the brakes will see less cooling.

Nice job. At least you didn't try and use your dentist drill to cut the shields.

If I had to do it again, I would have gotten 355s from a cost perspective. You can run APEX 17s and they are $50 cheaper per for tire for NT01s vs 18s.

But this is TEXAS!

Thanks! No, I did not break out the drills, although I have some that would work. That's right! Brakes are bigger in TEXAS, or at least they need to be to cope with the heat!

The one crappy thing about the ST60 is that pads are not cheap and not readily available.

One of the big advantages of the ST40 BBK over all others is that you can get a race pad at just about any track unless they shun Porsches if you get caught short. Yes, you may have to grind and sand the pads a tad but it will work.

I did once at MSR Houston. The shop there doesn't have a store. But he went in the back found a set of PF01s for a Porsche. Grinded off the ears and then sanded .75mm off each pad. And I was back on track. Only downer is they are a total PIA to get out since there are to tabs to grab on to.

ST60 pads are generally 33%-50% more...I'm not sure if they last that much longer than the ST40 pads.

^ Easier to just carry a backup pair to the track with you and leave the grinder at home.
