BMW ED Insurance.
Called my insurance today. I understand insurance needs to be set up BEFORE I go to Munich.
I told them BMW insures me for the first two weeks. She had some good questions. "For what?" "For how much?" "Whats the deductible?" Good questions. I am sure the package is comprehensive so I ask does anybody know or is there a link to the actual insurance document I am provided with? Thanks in advance. ED May 2. 0910.

The info I got w/ my ED package (that ended up not working out due to a dealer problem) was $0 and like 10,000,000 euros worth of coverage + attorneys fees, it was a pretty awesome insurance policy.
It should be in the box they send you btw.

0$ deductible, 100,000,000 euro coverage through Allianz. If you do end up in an accident or make a claim make sure to phone the number ASAP. Make a police report, if applicable, regardless of which country you are in and make sure to have a valid International Drivers License, for countries like Austria. Depending on the damage done to the vehicle, the car will either get fixed before it is shipped back to make it road worthy. Or in the case of aesthetic damage, get shipped back, repaired by whichever shop your dealer uses. And the claim will be sent back to Allianz, and re-imbursement will come... slowly.
Keep all your info together, and when you get the insurance for your ED don't keep it in the vehicle just in case. They will explain it all to you. |

Excellent news guys. Thanks.
I somehow figured they wouldn't scrimp on the coverage. One more thing. I didn't read that I needed proof of insurance for the car here in Canada before I go over do I? As my insurance won't do it until the car is registered here. I'll keep all my digits crossed that I don't prang my baby over there. Hell I'll keep my balls crossed too for that matter. Cheers.

Nice cars come with awesome things huh. What insurance are you looking into for the rest of your time there? You can get car and home insurance quotes through the AARP, if you haven’t already looking into that.

Bimmerfest had a VDC Tour at Port Hueneme in November last year and one of the areas that we toured is the shop where damaged cars were repaired. They use factory trained specialists and their work is excellent. Your local dealer would not be involved in fixing any damage unless it occurred in transit after it left the VDC.
