Have you adjusted your headlight level? By how much?

I noticed that the low-beam headlights on my E90 were not lighting far enough down the road compared to my other cars at their stock calibration level. I had to turn on my high beams frequently to feel comfortable driving at night. I just went into the garage and made a two-turn, counter-clockwise adjustment to raise the light levels.

Have you adjusted your headlights? If so, by how much (and up or down)? Has it helped, and are people starting to high-beam you due to the adjustment (if you moved yours up)?

When my E90 had HR springs on it I had to turn them about 4 turns down. then when I changed to Eibach I had to turn them about 6 back up. In my car a full turn barely does anything

Lowered my car and just adjusted them to be up a little and not as wide to make the light more focused and appear brighter, although it doesn't mean it is better

Yeah, My headlights for my 328 were very low, took it in to the dealer and it was adjusted. BMW just naturally aims them low.

Great - another moron just guessing at the proper level of adjustment, instead of taking 30 minutes to actually try to get it close to right, or pay someone $50 for it to actually be right.

Yeah, I think I passed you and three of your brethren coming toward me last night. One of them had blue bulbs, just to accentuate his random blinding technique.

Just because you can't tell which end of a screwdriver to use doesn't make the OP a moron. Its a user adjustable setting and the proper level is a completely subjective thing. Lighten up Frances...

Thanks for the heads up. I found and read that guide yesterday before I adjusted the lights. I made notes of the adjustments (including the original position of the knobs) and marked the garage wall that I used to aim them in case I need/want to go back to the stock level.

No it's not a completely subjective thing. That is why most states with vehicle safety inspection laws require headlight adjustment checks so that you don't blind someone in the opposing lane. If you just adjust them to suit yourself, you could easily have the lights adjusted such that they "blind" oncoming drivers.

I didn't notice until driving on dark country roads a few weeks ago, but the lights definitely aim low. Much lower than my last car. A passenger even pointed it out.

After the adjustment, I no longer need to use the high beams everywhere I go. It really makes a big difference and I see that the cutoff is below others' windshields.
