Converting my ECU back to stock from ESS Tune Issues

Hey Guys,

I'm trying to convert my car back to a stock ecu but I'm running into issues.
Every time I try to run Program my ECU on the ESS Flash tool I keep getting "error: initializing hardware crypto routine !"

Even when I use the recover ecu mode with the original stock file I get the same issue.

Have you guys ran into the issue before? ESS hasn't seen this issue although I've seen threads with this bug but no follow up.

You could install BMW standard tools (https://www.bimmergeeks.net/downloads) on your laptop and use WinKFP to flash the stock program/calibration files. It's pretty easy. Caveat: with the MSS60 DME you must use the DCAN cable from bimmergeeks ($50).

It is weird that ESS couldn't help you, but the advice above is ace.

Are you at all handy with a computer? The BimmerGeeks Cable and standard tools have saved me thousands on custom coding my own car with GTS Tune (the version *I* picked), Euro MDM and more. I would have paid someone else or vendors at least $200 to even start coding.

I would not say I am a pro, just willing to keep troubleshooting each error I get until it works, and getting used to the resources available is incredible. Just Clunky as hell at times. If you can do that, get to coding, once you get to coding we can help ya a bit further.
