Damn I'd love to try out COTA. We were there for F1 this year and last. Amazing track. After all these time at spring mountain Motorsport ranch, would love to do Austin too. Where does one register? Going to look into getting the car transported there

www.motorsportreg.com

Just registered myself yesterday. Since I'll also most likely be doing TWS with TDE two weekends before this, I also ordered an extra set of brake pads, another bottle of brake fluid (since CCA requires your last flush to be within the last 6 months....), and I'll be due for an oil change probably right before March anyway.

Caught rides at CotA last year, looking forward to driving this time! Gotta watch a bunch more videos and read more of Ross Bentley's Ultimate Speed Secrets book, one of my favorite Christmas gifts I received.

Turn 10 is my favorite. 16,17,18 after.

I'll be on slicks, the car has shed about 80 pounds, and I've got some aero this time. It's gonna be nuts!

Are they going to remove the gators at the apex in the esses? Last year I could just go straight...what esses? When the gators are there...whole different story.

10 is not really a turn. you should be flat out from 9 to 11. make it a turn and lose time. 16-18 is fun. run too wide and you'll have all kinds of excitement.

big orange things are still there at 3-5. you can run the rumble strips, but don't hit the orange monsters. that section would be silly straight without the orange monster bumps.

Watch out for knock back when using the yellow rumblestrips.

Last year they removed all of the orange strips for BMWCCA. I had run with Driver's Edge, they had the strips and thought I had got the esses down pretty good. Then with BMWCCA I was all messed up with out them. I was really indecisive...I could go straight, not in the spirit of the turn but it would be MUCH faster! One time I said F it and just went straight. My corner speeds were off the chart!

Kind of like running MSR Houston CCW...you an skip T2 as long as your car isn't too low and no cars are blending on the track.

I imagine so. Probably similar to Road America which has a lot of those rough curbs.

I think most people are really scared and think COTA eats up brake pads. So most start with fresh pads. I just ordered a fresh set for this event and I don't think my fronts are even half done.

Can't wait! Can't wait! Can't wait! It was amazing watching the F1 guys blast through the front straight, then drop crazy rapid sequence down shifts on turn 1. Can wait to drive my own car there. Would be nice to meet Surlynkid and some of the great experienced peeps from here, and pick u guys Brian's on getting around COTA right way. Billj's videos are awesome as always. Time to get my shipping arrangements finalized. Big willow next week to get the track season started, then Austin here we come.

Here is my first session on Sunday. There is so much time left to get out there if I grow some balls in 2 and 19 and brake later in 12. I need to arc into 11 and 15 and get on the gas earlier coming thru 17.

I don't think it is uber hard on brakes, but stock ones probably won't last well. I could smell a 1M burning his up. Depends how deep you dive into 1, 11 & 12. it is really easy on tires as the track is so smooth. the left handers are all slow, and the right handers seem to be faster sweepers, so the tires seem to get even wear left to right versus the thought that the right side will take a beating on a CCW track.

Like Billyj747 said...pad knock back is a bitch here so I use fresh pads in the front.
