A few weeks earlier on a Mustang @ TMS in Auburn.

I'll be dynoing my 2010 tomorrow with this same mixture and will report my findings.

Summary: I think you should put half a tank of 101 in your car and see how you like it

Especially compared to 91 or 92 there is 10 plus HP on the table with 95 octane total. That allows timing to hit 32 degrees which is the max. So anything over 95 octane mixed provides no additional benefit. I've logged this data

You mean on a stock tune? I believe Gintani offers a tune for 100 octane.

Thanks for the heads up, I'll do 5 gallons instead of 7.5 and see what that yields tomorrow.

Keep in mind there is some adaptation time to factor. If you change to 100 make sure to do a few redline pulls on the street before hitting the dyno.

The AFR's are hitting the targets perfectly. In fact, that looks like one of the most closely calibrated lambda readings I've seen.

I'm in Seattle right now if you want a dyno tune for 100 octane. In most cases 100 octane at sea level with current weather conditions in Seattle will yield similar power to 93.

Exactly, anything really above 95 octane you are just throwing money away especially when 100 octane is $10 a gallon here in LA.

I found actually from 93 -95 on my car was only worth 4-5rwhp. Which really could just be statistical noise from the dyno.

Can corroborate the logging results of high octane, mix, and 91. Ran 100 octane and logged open road, looked no better than mix of 91 and 100 (targeted to mix 93). Internal "actual moment" dyno calcs using BT tool yielded about 8-10 bhp difference vs 91 alone. In cooler weather would be within 1-2 max timing targets of 34 degrees (both ESS and BPM tune) sometimes hitting 34. To fully take advantage you need a 100 octane tune

Hey Mike,

I'm waiting to get a deal on a catless mid pipe before I tune my car. You're more than welcome to tag along to the dyno day though, it's a BMW CCA Dyno day. I'm dragging another e92 with one of your tunes along with me. I'll PM you my contact info. It's tomorrow at 10AM.

Why did you change gears if you wanted to standardize results?

Great results MFL. Those are impressive numbers.

CarbConn is a very consistent dyno, we're over 300 dyno files on the Supra. We go there selectively because Alex maintains that DynoJet so well. Say 'Hi' to Alex for me, he's a great guy and runs a very tight shop. He'll take care of your dyno day group.

I blend my own ethanol/pump gas for the Supra, and I would like to do the same for the M3 some day. The DA where I live now is 5700 ft, and with 91 octane, I know for certain that I am not anywhere close to my timing targets on the S65 DME. Unfortunately I have no ability to change the lambda targets on the M3 ECU to compensate for the ethanol %.

+1. I've been bringing my cars to their dyno for almost a decade now. Regardless of my expectations, I trust their results.

Just don't trust their tuning. Blew up a friend's S2000 motor with a poor tune on an AEM FIC piggyback.

I can't speak on their craftamanship as I've only dyno'd my car there. I rode in a 450whp SS Camaro that they tuned there last night and I was impressed.

Most tuners target a couple of degrees more of timing, either 33 or 34. I've also hit 34 with 93-94-ish octane (mixed in 100) in cool weather (40 degrees and 1020 mbar pressure at sea level). Can confirm is also worth about 10 bhp.

Also beauty of higher octane mix is when I'm not gunning it, worth about 1+ mpg better gas mileage.
