I can't explain in words, but after a crappy day at work there is nothing like switching on M-mode and feeling and hearing the car come alive! I always have a shit-eating grin after a few minutes driving, re-enforces how much more an M car is over other bimmers.
I agree with sparkyg about the fuel consumption, she likes her premium. Wait until you can get your M3 (e9x), I've owned a 335i and 535i and currently have an X5 for the wifey. Even she loves taking the M3 out for nights with her girls. She too can't explain what it is.

The fuel economy i can live with for the 4 months of summer that we get. The concern i have is right now i cant afford a new one so lack of warranty becomes a top concern. The 08s with 70 000 plus kms for in the $40 000s are what i could afford this summer. I would say about 45k top. So would i be making a mistake getting one of these cars off or almost off warranty? Maybe by next summer my budget might be around 55.
So i could go for something around 40 or wait tell next summer or just get a 335i or 335 d for now. Maybe trade up in a few years. What is the reliability like on these engines? Regular maintenance is not a concern im just worried about major problems ruining me lol. Im also planning on buying a house in 18 months. So im not sure i should buy one before i have a garage ready for her. |

Ah, if your saving for a house that should be your priority.
Volvo will be your ride for a bit, buying a car (ones you've stated) don't make sense for your right now. Just my opinion.

haha yea thats something thats always in the back of my head. Truly i should just focus on getting a house first.. BMW's are just so tempting though haha.
I am in a bit of a unique situation though. I have my downpayment saved, and i get 1.5% financing because i work at a bank. So those factors help a lot. Also this summer im moving out with the GF and not sure if we will have a garage. Then after one year of renting if it works out im going to buy a house with her, then maybe get married, have kids all that jazz. Im just nervous that it might be impossible to get anything once all those expenses start coming up haha. Really what i SHOULD do is just drive volvo until i have a house and save about 15-20k to throw at my car after i buy a house. I already have 50k saved for a house. Im sure i could save 20k over the next 2 years to. |

I would definitely wait until you buy a house and a garage. I would never park it outside. Granted, you may have underground parking or something if you are renting but still...

You sound young, but I'm 33 and could never see myself having the things I do in my twenties. Good luck, the wait is worth it.

Thanks for the kind words. Real estate is def a different beast but i dont see that market looking all that bright for the next decade anyways. Never the less i will be getting in the next year or so.
Haha ya cars and BMW's just go down. I seem to go through a lot of cars to and just trade up every few years. An M3 might be something i keep for longer term. Im 26 right now. So the house is the first logical step for sure. The M3 has been a dream for about 8 years haha. Im thinking about even just settling for a 335 for a while. The price is less, still fun with a manual and much better fuel economy until i make a little more money at work. I have been looking at this car in Calgary. Any thoughts? http://alberta.kijiji.ca/c-cars-vehi...AdIdZ450574494 |

Ahah and the cycle starts over again.
It always starts with something that handles good and would save me money on gas like a 328xi. Then im like well a 335i is only another 5-7k for much more power. Then the M3 is only another 5-7k more to have it all! Lol. There is a nice red M3 in calgary right now that i might take a peak at along with that blue 335i. I will explore my options but i think i will most likely keep the volvo until i have a garage to store a nice car in. If i can resist buying them during the test drives that is |

Jumpman, I have driven and seen that blue 335i that you are interested in. It's a beautiful car and basically has all options except for nav. I couldn't find ANY evidence of it being anything but perfect (there's a small dent on one of the doors I beleive). I even ran my own carproof on it. PM me your email if you want to see it.

Thanks for the comment. I would love to hear your thougts on the 335i.
As long as it can carry me through a canadian winter i would be happy with that. I have pretty much determined i want to hold off on an m3 until i have a house and make a little more $$ to cover the extra cost of the car, insurance and gas. I also want to wait for the exact m3 that i want (colors, options, 4 door ect.) I will get an m3 but i think i need to hold off for a few more years. I would not mind to see what the new M3 looks like also. |

When are you guys planning to take out the M3 from storage ? I was thinking next month cause I miss driving her. I am just afraid of a late snow fall, pot holes and rock chips.

Are you getting this done at a shop or doing it yourself? I'm interested in the spark plug change, just did my oil and got my coil removal tool from TxStig. How much are 8 spark plugs from IND?
