can I order a car (get on line) but change the tranny some time before it's built?

I am almost ready to order but not sure if I want the DCT or not??

Is it possible to order one and change the tranny (or any other detail) at any time before it's built? Or once it's ordered is it set in stone?

Typically, once your dealer has an allocation that is configurable, the order is placed and it is Status 111 when accepted by BMW AG. From that point you normally have at least 4 weeks to go through status 112, after which it is locked. Every order is different, though.

Until June, however, DCT orders are limited, so you will get a later build date if you order with DCT. If you order with manual and then change the order to DCT, you may get pushed back a few weeks.

you can change as many times as you want until it becomes 150 (in production). how much time you stay in 111 and 112 depends on your production slot.

but note that getting DCT may push your production way back.

thanks.

My sales guy was pushing me to place an order. I think I want a DCT so maybe I should get on the order with that and if something happens such as people are having problems with the DCT than maybe I can change out to the 6MT.

This forum is a great help to me. I have never spent so much on a car so I am trying to make sure I get exactly the car I want.

Sounds like he's worried about initial problems?
