6MT FTW. Would only get DCT if i was tracking and really needed to shave seconds off track/race time.

Attn Forum members: Typing "FTW" or "FTMW" does not substantiate your statement, does little to sway opinion, and is actually the opposite of winning.

Thanks for the feedback, and glad to hear that the Getrag is the better of the two. Still wish it was tweaked though.

DCT for the win baby. If the rev matching wasn't so perfect and the sweet v8 'blip' when you gear down, I wouldn't have gone this route.
But again, DCT FTW! |

What a great idea for a thread. But on a side note, this site has the biggest group of six-speed fan boys who get butt-hurt when someone even mentions DCT. Its like they can't even stand the thought of someone liking something different, or God-forbid they are wrong. I've tracked both, each has it's own merits, but at least respect each other's opinion, it looks like a Honda forum in these threads.

My M3 is a manual. I have now owned an Audi S6 for just over a month. It is my daily driver and is a dual clutch. As a daily driver, I love the dual clutch and its multiple personalities. However it also makes me so glad that my M3 is a proper manual. The manual is just so much more engaging, involving and fun. To me it isn't even close. Any idiot can blip paddles all day.

This thread is very useful. When I'm in the market for an m3 I'm going to go with 6mt. I'm sure the DCT is fantastic, but just reading that DCT owners still miss having MT time to time I can definitely relate. When I had manual cars, I never thought even once I wish I had an AT. In a perfect world though I would own both lol.

You really have to drive it before you make up your mind. I'm 35 and have driven mt all my life and still love mt. That said, soooo happy I went DCT. I would have never guessed the DCT would be so good.
Either way, you'll love it! |

Does this crap happen on all forums or just the M3 forums? Can't go 15 minutes without seeing a 6MT vs. DCT debate. The last one racked up 200+ posts in a couple days. For some reason everyone feels like they need to tell you why they went with the transmission they went with. WTF?

I am going to play devils advocate because I own a DCT....lol
Problem with the poll is that everyone knows it is trying to uncover that DCT drivers cant drive stick. Then the MT community can use the poll as ammunition against the DCT drivers, proving that they are scared little "auto tran" drivers who cant handle MT. So since all DCT owners know this to be the case and since everyone is sitting in their dark warm little rooms at home, all DCTers, who cant drive stick, are pushing that they Chose DCT, and have previously owned and driven an MT vehicle. This Poll is null and void .... Last edited by M3-S65; 01-21-2014 at 06:56 PM.. |
