DSC off = Fun

so ive been reading a bunch of threads recently about everyone trying to protect everyone else by suggesting DSC stay on....

its a cool thought...if you want to be safe and all then keep dsc off

but...dsc off can be a lot of fun. just saying

I like to down several high gravity ales and then hit the public roads on rainy nights with DSC off. It is usually just me and my three year old son as wingman. We have such fun.

I have an impressionable 15 year just getting ready to get her permit. I make it a point to take her out with DSC-OFF, pitching the car sideways at every opportunity.

That's the way to go, DSC is for sissies. Real M3 drivers do double the speed limit in bad weather, dsc off, with kids in the car. Just ask the guy who totaled an e90 M3 and 3 other cars

Nothing wrong with having DSC off
But you need the right road, weather, and mood for it
I never tried to take it off till about 2 years of driving my M3
You need to know the car, and how it handles before you do it
And you have to be in the right frame of mind
I.e not texting or messing around with pandora etc
But giving your driving 100% concentration

and of course you'll take her to the dealership and let her know she can have whatever she wants, but perhaps the CLK black series will be more practical, since it's an automatic.

Hi, my name is DBH and I'm a DSC/off addict. Seriously, as long as you use it (the OFF button) in a responsible manner, what's the issue? You've bought a high performance automobile and you should use it to it's fullest as circumstances allow. Otherwise, a Mazda Miata will do just fine.

Closet DSC-off addict. Someone said to me once 2x+10 for all off-ramp & on-ramps, I haven't looked back since.

I started driving in 1986. All cars in the country I grew up in) were MT, no ABS no DSC no airbags and NO SEAT BELTS (I swear, seat belts were being advertised as an OPTION, like: This nice 1988 Fiat comes with a stereo, AC and seat belts)!!!. We typically started driving at age 17, some started illegally younger and some a little later. It still rained few months/year. I grant you that I wasn't driving a 414HP car then, but a 2000cc 4cylinder car with 175HP can be driven dangerously too. All that and we didn't see cars skidding sideways and doing 360s. None of my friends or anybody I knew got killed in a horrific car accident, we all had our normal fender-binders just like those in a 2012 Camreys.
Currently I use the DSC most of the time on MDM so I can be safely aggressive however I'm not afraid of taking it off as long as I know my limits.

On a serious note, I think this is not a terrible idea. New drivers definitely need to see the potential consequences of losing control.

Now, this won't work for every teen..especially the ones that go "weeee" instead of screaming in fear.
