Camber plate installation question.

Excuse my naive question. Just curious about how camber plates are installed in general. Does it require removing the whole shocks/ strut assembly out from the fender-detaching it from the upper mount and lower control arm etc. OR just detaching it from the upper mount. Thanks

You can do it either way. You will need a spring compressor regardless. I prefer to take them out and do it on a workbench.

this is true. both sets ive had were put in just pulling top mount and dropping it out far enough to do the work. little more involved to pull entirely out then replace so labor may be slightly higher.

If you are just installing camber plates, you don't need a spring compressor.

Abbreviated steps...
  1. Jack up the car and support the strut assembly with a floor jack.
  2. Remove the top bolt on the strut with an impact, it will spin off the nut. Lower the front suspension, secure the shock to something.
  3. Unbolt the 3 strut mount bolts (13mm).
  4. Install the camber plate with the 3 bolts.
  5. Insert the shaft into the hole (that's what she said), jack up the front suspension (might need a second person for this).
  6. Torque down the top nut

Forget which side...disconnect the headlight leveling device first. Might have to disconnect the sway bar link...forget if I did this.

I think that's it. Don't forget to take off the wheel, that makes things a little easier.
