D-5 vs S-5 (with DSC ON)

Hi everyone,

Let's say the M power settings is at sport plus, EDC on sport, shift lights on. Which will make the car accelerate faster once you hit the M, D-5 or S-5 given that you are giving the car the highest rpm before shifting is S-5 (shift light turns red).

Thanks

MR

Assuming you start in the same gear and shift at the correct point in Sequential mode, both D5 and S5 will be the same.

Where things differ is when you use:

kickdown in D5

VS

multi-downshifting in S

VS

kickdown + pull downshift paddle once (or sometimes twice to get the absolute lowest gear) in S - this is the automated multi-downshift function in S -

while in a steady cruise at a higher gear.

By knockdown you mean taking your foot off the gas?

No, kickdown is the button you depress when the throttle pedal is pressed past the first point of resistance right at the end of the pedal travel. Please read your manual about kickdown in D mode and the multi-downshift kickdown function in S mode.

Read the supplementary manual. The kickdown + 1 downshift pedal pull in S mode is very useful for overtakes. Sometimes you have to pull twice for absolute lowest gear.

MDM works in D as well, you just have to configure the M mode settings.
