Don't do it ! Invest in ///M3 with less miles on it to avoid this =>http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=786615

Look my friend i'm seeing this otherwise ,it's not mass hysteria it's more what could happen and with a car with 106K miles on it the risk only rises !
Do you let somebody walk into a trap even when you know it's there ?
I'm not ! Personal I would say be carefull it's there !
About my posts don't help...not agreed with that , are your posts helping this person with saying nothing ?Don't think so !
Do you dare to say my bearings will never blown ?
That's why i'm saying to OP invest in ///M3 with less miles on it, so the risk of bearing failure will also reduce that's why OP was asking...what do you think ?
I'm not on here to pusch someone in a trap by saying nothing about the truth , and the mass hysteria is actualy the reality what can happen at anytime !That's why we made a thread about it,and not to act like nothing is wrong !
BTW...if I was in OP's situation I would love to see when someone was saying to me what i'm saying now !
Also maybe OP was saving money to buy his dream car and after a couple of weeks when things go wrong=>so your choise was to say nothing , and pusch him in this possible trap , what a feeling you would have after this ?
Nope man i'm not like this and prefer to say watch out...this can happen !
It's your opinion i've mine...nothing against you man, it's like when there is a speed camera along the road and i'm seeing it , well than i'm the first person to warn you about it !Same thing with OP in this situation...
And that's me !

+1 I hate to agree but I do even though the issue affects how much I'll recoup if mine was for sale.

Personally, if it happens to mine, the problem will be BiG to me regardless what percentage of the whole it is. I would be 100% effed up.

KBB private sale value for that car is $24,000 in very good condition.I would offer $20k and go from there.

Seen that car.. with 100k miles and he's asking $32.5 it'll never sell.

You can easily spend a few thousand more and pick up another M3 with ALOT less miles.

I've seen 09 with 60k miles for $35-37.

I would definitely pass.

20k is extremely low for a "clean title" e92 M3. Despite the higher mileage, I've seen many 08's with that milage sell for around 30k. I would say 28,000$ is about right. The sellers asking price is around 4500$ high.

Offering 20k is just insulting.

Maybe you should have pointed him to the other thread where 08's are reaching 150k with no problems.

Seriously. Does anyone have proof that an M3 with 100k miles is In some way less reliable than other BMW's with 100k? Of course not, because this happens to be a very reliable car for most of us. If anything, they're probably more reliable than most luxury / sports cars. The bearings thing is so played out by now, please stop spreading hysteria about a known issue on the car. Inform, educate, but don't make assumptions and scare people from buying what happens to be a phenomenal car because of a few failed engines.

Yes, I am serious. Tell me, how many people have you met or talked to with bad bearings? My service advisor has seen none. The car meets I go to, I've never heard of anyone with this problem. I'm a member of my local bmwcca and none of them have had the issue. Also, weren't you advocating this was just a North American issue like 2 months ago because you hadn't found any failures in Europe? Apparently your view has changed.

Now, go ask a 335i driver if they've had a HPFP fail. That number is closer to 100%.

How many blown engines have been discovered on these forums - 50? Out of 50,000 cars made that would be low .01%. Even if this number is grossly understated it seems to be an issue that can be detected and repaired most of the time before catastrophic failure if you know what to look for.

As others said, why own this car if you are so certain it's a ticking time bomb? It's a bit irrational to push people away from this car because of the rod bearing issues. I dare you to find another high performance car that doesn't have some type of issue like this.

Whether there is a major bearing issue or not, seems like there have been no reports of any M3 with 100k+ miles that have failed. Usually happens well before that. In fact, there are many M3s with high mileage running just fine as evidenced by the high mileage thread.

I agree that some people on here are are wayyyy too historical when it comes to the bearing issue. While it looks like an issue may exist it is not like engines are failing left and right.

Wait now one moment....
My previous car was a 325i full AC/Schnitzer and had it for 20 years !
It put 325.000 + km on it ...indeed !And with only Mobil 0W40 !
I'm seeing the 325i still in traffic and we say hello..blinking with our lights !
So at that moment it was for me that BMW cars where almost unbreakable , I drove this car the 5H1T out of that engine,if engine was cold or warmed up always to red line ..and that car is still running....Imagine my friend !
But I saw always ///M cars at my BMW/dealer, yup indeed dream cars , how they sound, how they look ect..."The ultimate driving machine" Indeed but for some....how long ?
And a few years ago my BMW/Dealer organized an ///M weekend with ///M test drivers, the result was that I was sold ,and my choise was... ///M3E92 full with EDC, DCT ect...SSII .
Only after I found this forum and saw the whole Bearing 5H1T !
When thinking and feeling of what an ///M3 costs here in Belgium + taxes and yearly taxes and fuel prices it's realy normal that I have the feeling that i'm rippped by BMW the more that they do nothing , knowing the worldwide problem of the bearings of the S65 , think this is no Kia engine ?
The more that I know that in the last 6 months more than 200 S65's where engines (worldwide) let us guess why ? What do you think my friend ?
So the more I know....the more i'm getting angry that a brand like BMW let us stifle in our problems, and sure they know about it because they replace them knowing this engine is not cheap !
That's why i'm driving BMW and ///M car because I didn't knew about the bearing 5H1T of the S65, and if I knew... it was no BMW for me that's for sure !
So that's my story my friend and that's why i'm angry not to you it's what i'm thinking.. seeing on this forum ...don't think it's very positive when you realy care about our car ?
A question....if you knew about the bearing 5H1T and saw all the failures and blown engines would you still buy it ?
