Let me try to liven this thread up. Here is a purchase I made a while ago... c.1943 (estimated by the 1943 tax stamp from Portugal) Cabanas Brevas Imperiales. 50 count box, consisting of 2 ribbon tied, wax paper and aluminum foil wrapped bundles.

Cabanas were a big name in Cuban cigars back in the day and were premium hand rolled sticks.

This was purchased fully intact (it's crazy to open a box of cigars that has been entirely sealed for over 70 years not knowing what the condition of the cigars in them are...).

...and now for a couple pics:

around 2k for the box of 50 ($40/per cigar)... not something I would typically do and, as I said, it was a while ago. Luckily, they are stellar cigars, so the gamble paid off...

Oh yeah... have tried quite a few of them. They are stellar, I think... a great example of a vintage habano.

Had to go back to page 11 to find this thread.

Picked this selection as I am about to leave Europe and doubt I'll be seeing any more Cubans any time soon. The shop I got them at gave me these awesome matches (top) to go with them. (5) Montecristo #4, (2) Romeo Y Julieta #3, (2) Cohiba Behike 52, (1) Partagas Serie D No. 4, (2) Montecristo #5, (3) H. Upmann Half Coronas

Anybody pick up any good sticks lately?

All my cigars were packed up in July for my move from Germany to Africa along with everything else I own. Haven't seen them since (visa took forever) and I'm hoping the extra humidification I closed them with is holding up. Whats the longest you've gone without checking on your humidor?

Just recently popped my Cigar cherry. I recently had an Ashton, Dominican Republic I think?
Now, I just came here and saw all different ones posted and I'm blown away. hahahaha

Just had a 2003 Cojonu this afternoon. I like most of his stuff. Have a box of the Apocalypse they made for the local smoke shop here which are pretty good also, although I do prefer the Anarchy they did previously (still might have a couple of those around).

Damn Took a bunch of cubans to my friend's bachelor party and I had to leave early but they left it on the damn hotel room. Perhaps the housekeeper enjoyed them!

Great cigars. Pete Johnson/Don Pepin make nice NCs. I got this Old Man and C coffin with a Black Label Lancero and a Culebra.

Haven't had a chance to crack this baby open yet. I've had the Black Label Petite Lancero before and loved it. I'm looking forward most to firing up the Culebra!

I've only had the Mummy from his Halloween releases - it was a great stick!

For a change of pace, I've tried his Cabaiguan cigars. Obviously not as strong but a great smoke if you want to mix it up and go milder.

Ok... need some humidor advice...

After putting in those Opus Xs, my hygrometer showed an increase of 3-4 rh. Before putting these in, the humidor's been stable and holding consistently at 70. I have Boveda 69 Rh packs (1 month old) in there and my hygrometer's been calibrated via salt test.

Should I:

1) Dry box the Opus Xs for a bit
2) Remove the Boveda packs until it drops back down to normal
3) Open up the humidor for a several hours to bring it down
4) Put in kitty litter to drop it back down
5) Not do anything and let the Boveda packs stabilize the environment

If the humidity is a bit high I like to put some cedars in there to suck up some of the moisture. Add or remove cedars as needed.
