911 C4 GTS

Any thoughts on the new C4 GTS?
I dont think the 4 version arives until the fall, but its coming.

Im definitely considering going back to a P car.
The GT3 is amazing, but for the driving I do it really doesnt make sense (I dont ever make it to the track)
The turbo is a little expensive.

I really like the suede interior in the GTS and you get extra HP at 408hp.

My M3 is DCT and as much as I love it, I have to admit I miss "really" shifting gears - so Id go for the GTS in a manual.
I think Id get the ceramic brake option.
I dont know what these larger seats (pictured below) are called- but I like them!
Probably an AWE exhasut.
Id probably go with a Grey car.
I would ditch the GTS wheels.
Id opt for a different set of stock wheels/tires probably also in grey.
Maybe even a matte finish grey.

I know the new body style is coming soon, but I understand the GT3 and other special versions wont be out for a few years anyway.

Just wanted to hear your thoughts on the C4 GTS and if its a good call to move in this direction even with the new body style coming soon...

RWD carrera is more fun and drives better than the AWD variant, also the steering is better. Unless your in a snowy climate go for the regular RWD GTS

My .02, unless you track a decent amount, and dont mind the noise, save your pennies on the PCB and get the sport exhaust or one or two of the other BILLION accessories you can get. Those look like the adaptive sport seats BTW. All that alcantara is really nice. Keep in mind, with a new body style come really good deals on the "old" body style.

I think this may be the best 911 for a DD right now. I prefer NA cars and the GT3 is too raw for daily driving IMO.
I agree about skipping the PCCB's, very expensive if you ever need maintenance.
I'd get the RWD version too, the whole idea of the GTS was getting the wide body without having to go 4WD (well that, and the extra power).

Those are just sport seats with a non-adjustable backrest. Adaptive sport seats have adjustable bolsters, and while the don't look as cool as the ones pictured, would be a much better seat for touring. Agreed on the PCCB's, keep the standard brakes and get leather wrapped dash vents!

I agree, but something in me wants the all wheel drive this time around. I wont drive the car everyday, but I want to know I can get around if I need to in bad weather. Im up north on the east coast.
I also agree the Carbon Brakes are not "needed" but they are really F'in cool!
I think i would regret not checking that box!

You are correct, those are "sport bucket seats"( little hole where the seat belt goes through).

Either way, you will still need winter tires, the high performance tires they come with are useless in snow and ice, even with 4WD. With all of that weight over the rear wheels, you should be ok with RWD and snow tires. PCCB's are cool, but I'd rather spend the $8k on something else. If you ever need rotors, it's a 5 figure bill.

C4 GTS strikes me a as way too expensive for what it is. $111k base before you even get to the P-car options parade, so you're probably looking at $120-130k (add $10k if you want a cab.) Unless you get a screaming deal since the 991 is coming out... NFW.

You make a good point on the $$.
Today you wont get a deal on the GTS- but once the 991 is at the dealer you'll see whatever is left discounted.

We've had a few customers with 911 GTS's and they all love them as daily drivers. It's a great car and compromise between going GT3/Turbo but not getting enough from a standard S car. I concur with the other people though and go for a RWD GTS... maybe think about picking up a slightly used one (a few k miles) and save a bundle. The GTS seems to depreciate pretty quickly.

My thoughts: One of the best looking cars on the roads. I would take it over an M3 any day. Costs almost twice as much but damn is it worth it. Only color I'd get on it is Carrera White.

I agree the c2 gts would be more fun than the c4 and probably a better dd than the gt3 with its much stiffer clutch pedal and high strung nature.

Great cars I've been eyeing this car since they announced it. I yet to drive one, but want to feel the PDK, the only thing holding me back is the 2012 911's are all going to be 4.0L. These are going to be obsolete as of next years also face lift. It just boils down to the want not the need. Check this Porsche Kings auto Mall in Ohio Cinci. They are discounting $6k and have 2.9% financing. There are plenty of cars here in NA, don't believe SA that say there are none.

get the rear drive like others have suggested- and the sport adaptive seats are amazing, with the alcantara inserts. i'd personally pick the PCCB over any wacky trim stuff like the leather wrapped air vents, etc, but to each his own. PCCB are the most amazing brakes i've even driven- unfuckingbelievable. dreamy control. since you are not tracking and unless you'll be driving in inclement weather with rocks from snow control, you should consider.

either way- enjoy.

funny because most porsche folk will say the opposite. if you track a lot then get the steels as the replacement cost of the PCCB's is quite hight. although I do track mine quite a bit and I have PCCB's. I love the feeling of them! The steel rotors are interchangeable with the PCCB rotors on the GT3. I think the GTS has the same brakes? could be wrong there.

sport buckets. plenty comfortable for long drives. I have done plenty. there is substantial cushion in them. Actually I took the cushion out the bottom so I could sit even lower. still very comfortable. no recline though.

on a porsche get exactly what you want. you will regret it if you don't. I would always order a 911 with PCCB's. Worth every penny.

PCCB rotors cost $16K for replacement. the option is only $8k. In the GT3's case you can always switch to steels later. The PCCB's without going on the track would probably last 100,000 miles. On my previous GT3, the steel cross drilled rotors cracked after about 10 track days. Steels cost almost $5k for a complete set. If your PCCB's last the life of 3 sets of steels then its break even. At the rate I'm going I would have already been through 2 sets and working on my 3rd set of steels. They are the single most performance oriented option that is noticeable in the seat of the pants. take half the weight off your brake components (all unsprung weight) and see what it does for acceleration, turn-in, braking, and weight transfer.

As for the GTS, driven it and its a great porsche! I would however recommend test driving an early 997.2 Turbo. It will be about same price as new GTS but its a monster!
