Vishnu/meth m3 v. e60 M5?

So not sure if anyone has been following the vishnu meth injection with tune thread but it looks pretty consistently he is putting down 25-35 more power at the wheels with relatively stock m3's (high flow cats is the closest to stock).

So how would a m3 with this vishnu setup and some high-flow cats/no cats fair in a straight line with a bone stock m5?

m3-414 hp + 40 crank hp (25-35 whp) gives 450ish hp rated.
400 pounds lighter than the m5 provides an equivelent bump in "horsepower" of about 50hp.

m5-505hp and weighs 400 pounds more.

They should be neck and neck based on peak hp but this is one of those great races that would really put the AUC to the test and not simply the peak power. I am guessing the m5 would still walk the m3 above 65-75 but who knows. I would love to set this up

I think the s85 just has too much up top even for the m3 after the vishnu.. But like you said who knows, until you do it..

I would love to see an overlay of a stock e60 m5 with the vishnu m3 in the other thread. If any savvy people know how to do that-sure would be interesting

What's up with you and all your M3 vs...threads? Can't you just be happy with what you have and stop comparing your M3 with Porsches and other Bimmers??

Dude-you are reading the "m3 v. other car" forums and then you have the nerve to ask me why I am making threads comparing the m3 to other cars?

Come on-all aside right now-you MUST admit that sounds kind of funny!

Hey man sorry if I am wasting anyones time but I personally am not into street racing and personally have never had the chance to get to a straight runway race or something to pin the cars against each other. I also enjoy the m5board.com type videos.

I am uber happy with my m3, I just really am interested in how area under the curve plays out when cars with similar peak power go head to head.

What is the big deal? Just don't read if its a stupid topic to ya man

Ask someone like DLSJ5 who has the fastest dragstrip time for one of these cars with bolt on mods. He probably has experienced an E60 M5. DLSJ5 ran a best trap speed of 119 mph and that was on drag radials with all the available bolt on mods and DCT transmission. An E60M5 runs 116-118 mph on street tires in completely stock form. It would obviously at best be very close with both cars on street tires or both cars on drag radials.

Instead of adding up potential power from mods, I would search harder and find the real world trap speeds. They are out there and you can find them with some effort. If you want to bench race mods, at least get dyno plots rather than just adding up factory rated horsepower and mods. You can find many dynos of modded M3s in the dyno database. With some searching you can find dynos for M5s elsewhere.

What are you talking about? There are no quarter mile traps for the vishnu stuff as it just came out. Sorry no trap speeds out. Also nobody is "adding up" horsepower. Vishnu posted 3 dynos on the engine section and that is what I was comparing. About 385whp for the vishnu m3 with high flow cats but otherwise stock and most m5s put down 420-430whp.

I then said m3 weighs 450 pounds less which when using its power to weight equates to that weight savings being equivelent to 50 crank hp when comparing a car that is 450pounds heavier.

Both came out pretty close. There are no runs of vishnu etc.

The point was that the vishnu AUC will be different than a regular FBO m3 so using other dynos of similar peak hp m3's will be meaningless
