It's normal on the stock software. Happened to me when I would brake hard and come to a stop. I got the Dinan DCT flash and it went away.

There's a few threads on it already.

WAIT ! I posted about this same thing about a month ago re: a new-to-me 2013 M3 coupe with about 16K miles. DCT. Thought I'd been rear-ended, no one was behind me lol.

I had a 2009 M3 convertible for a few years. Also DCT. Never did this one time.

This new 2013 has now done it at least 3 times.

Same here.
Sometimes the "kick" is not so violent but sometimes the cars is moving a bit.
I have problems with my power train and I record quite a bit of my drives with the m laptimer app.
You can see that the "speed" picks up to 1 mile but the revs of the motor don't budge? All with no throttle applied of course.
Sometimes I wonder what would happen if I wouldn't have my foot on the brake?
Perhaps it's time to file a officially safety complaint to get BMW to look into this.
Anyone if you have BMW apps and the laptimer app and could post a screen shot?

Good question about not having foot on brake when it happens. I always thought the transmission goes into a "neutral" gear at complete standstill....I will try it out. I get the "kick" sometimes.

Maybe someone can chime in if the dct has a"neutral"
I was always under the impression that there is always a gear selected and the "neutral" is simply both clutches released.
If you have the free laptimer app let it record.

I've been as to replicate once when I was at a stoplight in D2 and clicked my left paddle to switch to S5. The car did a little kick. I could do repeat it but at the next stop light it didn't kick when I did this.

Yeah. For me it's random.
Most of the time it happens when the motor is cold in the morning and I drive off
If I have to stop right after driving for only a few hundred yards. It can take a while but if the light is red long enough it happens.
But it does happen also after driving for hundreds of miles.
It's random.
