Donuts, Dyno, Launch Control - BMW M3 V8 Supercharger by VF Engineering
After watching this video you will want to hit us up and get a supercharger for your M guaranteed! Their OEM quality, bolt-on VF620 kit as tested on our E90 V8 M3 put down 474rwhp on our Mustang Dyno using 91oct and a outside temp of about 100F. nice vid! car sounds and looks great!
quick question, is that tranny slipping a little? not really sure why the car sounds like its lagging slightly between gear changes sometimes (especially on that last run), could be due to traction control or MDM? |

I'm confused. The kit is 620hp but the wheels only get 474?? Can someone explain to me why that is?? I know you lose a few ponies in the transfer of power...but that much??
I don't know much about blowers...that's why I'm asking. |

After watching the vid for a second time I agree. I think it has to do less with the added power and more with the abuse put on the tranny (not saying the added power doesnt provide additional wear and tear). This is the exact reason I wont use LC with my blower, becuase once that thing starts slipping its only going to get worse

As for the "slipping trans"- That's just wheel spin, guys. The tranny is holding up well, although that much launch control isn't something we'd want to do often; it is going to wear on the drivetrain. The car is driven primarily in "D", mostly highway miles, so the tranny shouldn't be an issue ever. We could run a stickier tire, but this is Dans daily driver. In day to day use, there's much less wheel spin of course. On the subject of why the car's only putting down 450whp on a VF620 kit, that's a few factors coming together to produce a "low" number. It works out to like a 28% drivetrain loss; with ideal conditions we could probably see 490 on the dyno. We dynoed the car on a pretty hot day; baseline was done on a 95* day, and the VF620 setup was tested on a 100* day. On top of that, we have a Mustang AWD dyno, which reads lower than other dynos. This is because the Mustang dyno actually simulates real world conditions by loading the barrels. The car has to resist this load to turn the drums, which gives a lower HP number. In the end, comparing dyno numbers from shop to shop or even day to day is almost meaningless. The dyno is for tuning and for measuring gains. Speaking of gains, our car put down 312rwhp in 95* heat, and after the VF kit we made 474rwhp. That's a 165whp gain... On our "low reading" Mustang dyno. 474rwhp is low, right?
