Sorry I started on bikes and there is absolutely no respect for us. We all get excited and rowdy in our rides but the Range Rover got what he deserved.

I'd like to know who started it because its not really clear. Range Rover seems like he did that out of desperation but definitely not justified, pretty crazy. The whole bikes in packs mentality is always "what are you gonna do about it?". Can't stand it. So many times I've been blocked off by packs like this. You can't start a fight though and they are so deep that they know you are intimated for a reason. I'm surprised the RR owner wasn't killed. Stupid regardless but I have the feeling that the pack instigated it. They like taking over highways and always get away with it. Cars do this crap too, I'm not gonna lie.

Crazy. Glad and surprised that no one got killed.
No reports on what happened before the brake check / initial crash. With regards to the poster who said the RR got what he deserved: Maybe you have a point if the RR ran over the bikers with little provocation, but it looks like he got brake checked, and wanted to protect his wife and baby and get the hell out of there. I agree that we need to look out for bikers more and protect their rights, but I don't think this is an example of that. Any info I missed?

For sure. You try this shit in Oakland California and you WILL get shot from the driver. We don't put up with this shit.
These under 30 year old boys act tough in a crowd on bikes. We see it all the time. Driver should have called the Police via cellphone and drove to a safe spot deemed by the 911 operator. I am glad nobody really got hurt. You can always replace property. Totally reminds me of "The Road Warrior" with Mel Gibson.

Dude they slashed the driver and tried to assault him with his wife and baby inside. Look at the video the douche on the white GSXR tried to break check him and he got hit. The Range Rover dude was trying to protect his fam I would do the same. I ride and these idiots give us sport bike riders a bad name.

The story before the video was that the range rover was brake checking and swerving around the pack of bikes that were riding along the highway. Whether he did that intentionally or instinctually, we do not know, but he did clip one of the motorcyclist's mirrors while he was swerving. I imagine that rider had to swerve to avoid being hit by the range and only got his mirror clipped.
At that point, the range rover has now threatened about 100 bikes on a highway. Not sure what he was expecting to happen at that point, but as the sequence of events played out, he got a beat down and I can't say I expected it to end any differently. 100 bikes coming down the highway is going to cause a mess of traffic and get in your way. It's been happening in NYC for years. If you want to lash out on them, feel free, but that's your call. I certainly wouldn't have done it with my wife and kid in the car. I would have pulled over if the bikes were really pissing me off rather than instigating, but you never know what can happen instinctually. |

If it was me, and some biker punks threatened my car with my wife and child inside, there would have been more than a few dead bikers afterward. I'd be interested to see how tough they are when 2 armed, trained people start firing at them from the castle-doctrine-protected SUV. Bunch of animals would scatter like rats.

I don't care WHAT was done by the RR to "instigate" this...the bikers actions were beyond excessive and uncalled for. They were a group of hoods looking for trouble, clearly. This isn't the first time this has happened in the area.
Once the RR felt threatened with wife and child in the car, all bets are off...he was well within his rights to protect them and get them out of harms way, as he attempted to do. It's just too bad he didn't get to take out a few more bikes in the process. No doubt a few of those scumbags will be going to jail.

Unfortunate, but based on the video, some of these bikers will likely be charged. Looks like driver was acting in self-defense and the fact that his wife and kid were in the car, even more justifyable. If the bikers felt wronged, there was another way to deal with this, as they had a license plate number. Too bad really and those bikers should be ashamed of themselves.

The bikers video seems to incriminate themselves. unless there is more before the "chase" it looks they bullied and scared the RR into a high speed chase. the RR should have called the police.

Not really sure what happened leading up to the video but I'm positive all those details will eventually come out. Regardless, the video looks really bad for the bikers who appear to be the instigators. If I felt my family was being threatened then all bets are off so I can understand how the RR acted.

More info. Looks like after the SUV hit the biker that randomly slowed down in front of him, the bikers slashed the tires and started denting the car. The guy panicked and hit the gas, hitting a few bikers (reports saying one is a paralyzed now). So the 6 minutes of driving in the video is on slashed tires. |
