Thanks for the comments on the photo. I was expecting a little bit of slack for posting pictures of my kids first instead of some other great shots of the car.

The protectors are available at Toys R Us. They are black and can be separated into 2 pieces. The product number (in Canada) is 282111 - and I am guessing it is the same in the U.S. They wipe down easy and are great for catching dirt and crumbs (assuming you let the kids eat in the car). - See picture.

The protector does not cover the leather headrest, so I took the extra padding from the seat and placed it between the back of the car seat and the headrest so that there would not be the large indent... See top of original photo with my daughter...Works like a charm.

The Radian 65 is a one-piece unit. It does not have a detachable base. The base does however fold up so it lays flat and can therefore fit in the trunk. I only put the seats in when I am taking the kids for a drive, it only takes a minute to clip the seats in, otherwise I store them in the basement. Attached is a pic that might help explain better. If you are considering buying it I would Google it to get more info and prices.

You can also get them from Amazon. They have grey ones as well for sure, and probably tan too.

Hi revmmm,

I am looking at car seat to replace the one in my wife's VW Golf. My boy is 19 months old. She does not want the same Recaro Young Sport that I have in my Sedan due to the high side bolsters (he finds it hard to put the kid in the seat).

The Sunshine Kids Radian 65SL is high on the list because it seems rather compact compared to others. I have not been able to actually see one in person to really get a feel for it. My main concern, and the reason we want to change the car seat, is how far the seat pushes the kid forward. Convertible car seats tend to be bulky.

Could you chime in on this?
Thanks for the help.

Is that seat legal for a 1.5yr old? Maybe Canada laws differ..
