IF you have a problem with the DCT/software, continue to document issues with the DCT to the dealer. You need to make an appointment, drop it off, and have them fix the DCT because of stalling, hesitation, etc. Keep bringing it back. They will eventually install the new software. Sometimes you just have to document document document! Like another posted mentioned, unless they can tie the issue to a TSB, etc, etc, they aint gonna do it.

But, if you are having problems with it, keep taking it in until they repair it. Stalling, LONG lag, etc IS a safety issue and should be corrected! Don't risk your well-being/life because they are not fixing it the first time. Keep bringing it back until it is resolved. If not, contact BMWNA and explain the issue. They know this is a safety issue and will fix it, you just need to be persistent!

Luckily, my local dealer did everything they could to fix my lag and stalling issue. Yes, I keep bringing it back in until they fixed it (but the delay was mostly due to new software not being available/created yet).

Keep on them....they will get it done eventually.

If you don't have an issue, why in the hell would they pay to "fix it"? If it aint broke, they aint gonna fix it (for free)!

Was the July 2009 update installed to resolve the DCT lag issue most '08 owners experienced, regardless if they wanted it or not?

Garage List
2023 BMW G82 M4  [0.00]
2018 F80 M3  [10.00]
2013 Audi RS5 (Sold)  [10.00]
2008 E93 M3 (Sold)  [10.00]
1st you need another dealer
2nd you need to call BMWNA and told them the whole story even the paperwork issue. It sounds fishy that they DIDN'T want to give you paper work.

You mean if your car was going in for service anyway (like the OP's situation)? Maybe. I believe phone calls were made to owners in some countries, but not here. The original DCT SIB would most likely have showed up on the SA's computer, I think, because it was a stalling issue that applied to all car's sold up to a certain date. I am not sure if they were obligated to tell you or and install the update in the US or not, but they were probably instructed to by BMW NA I would guess.

No DCT update since then has been handled that way though. You pretty much have to demonstrate issues to the service advisor and get their buy in to get the update.

Not all East Coast Dealers suck.

Passport was flawless for me and VOB is making an effort to do better as well. I like the fact that they are building a new service center.
