VIR Weekend with Trackdaze 5 - 6 May 12

The highlight of the weekend was when 4 of us were causing mayhem on the track together. The low point for me was getting a flat tire on Sunday and not being able to come close to my fastest lap times due to me forgetting to fill up on talent before the weekend.

Here's the video of said mayhem:
dcgolfdr - Dave, GTR
AMPowerJ - Ashley, blue e90
Sleeper519 - Bill, silver e92
and me (special thanks to Hans for letting me use his spare tires to make this video possible)

Edit: (FIXED)

Here's my fastest lap of the weekend... 2:17.190

Mods:
Wheels/Tires:
OEM 18" Style 219/ Michelin Pilot Sport PS2, 245F/265R
Suspension: Eibach Pro-Kit Springs w/ e36 M3 bumpstops
Engine/Drivetrain Modifications:
AA Green Filter
AA Pulley
Performance Friction front BBK
Exhaust: Akrapovic Evolution

We'll have to do that again next time! Maybe Hans will join us next time!

I might take your advice and get some track wheels and tires. But it was really fun pushing the tires past its limit though. Damn greasy ass PS2s.... But I'm glad Hans let me borrow them!!!!

Awesome weekend! Really great to meet up and run with you guys. Loved that leap frog session, too. Let's do it again soon.

Johnny, you are a madman, and still damn quick on those greasy little tires!

Great vids and stills. Sorry that I could not join in with you all, but I had my hands full with three !!! students - a green, a blue, and an advance for some touch up. Every time I thought that I could be by the garage to see you, someone was pulling on my arm to go out. Then on Sunday, I was at the Pat. course and skid pad with the Teen Driving School Solution . 3 Teens, and 2 Parents. Valuable event for all.
At VIR a bunch the next three months, so perhaps we can get together then.

Note: This post is a copy of one in the MidAtlantic Forum but figure its best to keep everything in one place.

Had a great time meeting all of you and finally putting a face behind the names. I'll be back again. and hopefully this time not sweating buckets

LOL, yeah, I ran low on talent so I substituted with aggression. Worked most of the time but made an ass out of myself a few times also.

Thanks Bill, the leap frog session should be a standard from now on! That was bad ass.

I was hoping to pick your brain a little, but hopefully next time you won't be so busy! How do I sign up for that Teen Driving School? I want to do the skid pad....

I should've parked over with you guys. Sorry I didn't get to meet more of you -- I said hi to Dave after finally catching him at the pumps.

<- #42 E92 (LeMans Blue -- "SOME SAY" VA tags) running with the blue group. You're making me regret missing out on the third blue session Sunday -- I was doing my check test with the black group and getting my ass handed to me But I managed to get my advanced/solo sticker even though I was the slowest thing out there.

Cool vids! Nice car control. Was pretty cool seeing all the e90/e92's there this weekend! Wish I had had the chance to hang out some but my family was there so I spent a lot of time in the "villa" with them (best place to stay but damn expensive). Hopefully I can meet up with you guys at another event...

It was my first time with Trackdaze and I thought it was a well run school. Seemed like most everyone "played nice" on track too!

Was a great weekend.. but I think I will be demoting myself back to Novice group next time so that I don't have half the class pass me in every session.

overall, a great time!

These are the crocodiles basking in the noon time sun, mouths agape, awaiting their prey.... ( I see vettes cowering over in the corner)

And, the last one shows a new record I set this weekend ( or, where did all our money go?!)

Agreed!!!! Granted I've only been to two HPDEs so far, the other being with the Tarheel BMWCCA. From talking to Chris (my last instructor at the Tarheel event), this is one of the better groups to run with and who can complain about the 30 min track sessions?!?!?! Don't get me wrong, I loved the Tarheel BMWCCA also but the 20 min sessions ended up more like 15 min sessions on more than one occasion. He also said that NASA is the worst offender as far as track time goes.

We'll spend a few hours talking over the track next time. I think it will help if you can visualize the track in your head and drive it at least 2 times a day. I no shit drive VIR in my head at least 5 times a day, and I still do the same with the Nurburgring.

Here's you doing some passing

Here's some in-car video from one of my sessions where I attempted to stay with Dave is his GTR. I do catch him one time on the back straight but I am fairly confident his foot must have slipped off the accelerator.

Critique away Martin!

Nice videos, makes me excited for June 1 VIR. You have counter steer down pretty well, which isn't that easy to do at speed.

EDIT: And this car is on Eibach's right? It looks like it handles well.
