Next Car?
I am curious what my fellow Canadians are thinking about replacing their E9X M3 with now that it is out of production. I know a few have already switched to Pcars and AMG's etc but there are some other nice options available as well, including the new F8X M3/4

E63S AMG Wagon.
Just with a tune and dp's. Plus All Wheel Drive so no need for a winter vehicle.

I am going to the new M4 which I am at the top of the ordering list at my dealer.I was seriously going with a new GT3 and had an order spot for one with March build/April delivery but decided to let a client have instead. The GT3 is too track focused for what I need at this time and I am thinking of another direction for track duty next year than using a street car.

^ I thought about the M4, but given how easily an M5 or M6 can be put into limp mode at the track, I thought otherwise. I'm sure the M4 will be a nice quick car, and a better daily driver than the E92, but I'm not ready to go turbo just yet - it'll take quite a bit to make it a car that can handle serious track duty. I'd personally rather get an M435 than an M4. After all, what meaning does M even have anymore?
I also thought about the new 'vette, but I could never move to a car with such crappy build quality after being in the M3 (and yes, i've seen the new Stingray). The Mustang 302R is a nice option, but being track only, it's a bit out of what i'm looking for. Given that the new GT3 will also be far more compliant than the older ones, i'm sure it'll be a decent daily driver, and a track monster too. Last edited by sawzall; 11-04-2013 at 01:34 PM.. |

Why no GT-R in the poll? It seems like a very natural progression after the M3. Way faster, and doesn't cost much more. I might get a GT-R next. Most likely either that or a C6 Z06 combined with some cheap fuel efficient econobox for DD and winter beater.

I meant to add GT-R to the list. Not sure about natural progression part, but I did look at one before I bought my first E9X M3

Personally I think a GTR would be a downgrade from an M3.Might be very quick but in everyday liveability as a DD not a great car to own. I drove one of the 1st ones for a day or so when they came out and came away very disappointed.

I drove one at a track day for about 10 laps and was quite impressed with the performance in a straight line as it could pull out slightly on Z06 Vette and the car was quite easy to drive quick with no bad manners. The sound of the exhaust with the baffles open is just awesome .The street manners are quite good.

Great car - spent a good amount of seat time in the F-Type when it was just launched and the exhaust note form the V8 was intoxicating - even the V6 variant sounded great. I really like the feel of the car too. I just wish the trunk was larger - not enough room for a couple sets of golf clubs i dont think, although I didnt try.
