Best regards,

The elasticity of the S65 is amazing. In every gear and every range the M3 is quicker. Even from way down in higher gears such as 6th, for example, where the RS5 is obliterated by over 4 seconds in an 80-160kph run! The higher the gear and greater the range the greater the discrepancy. All hail the S65 M3.

I was totally shocked/surprised by this article.
I expected the RS5 to take a slight win over M3. But it was completely the other way round.
There was not ONE point where the RS5 could shine.
RS5: Heavy as hell, very bad steering
High speed driving comfort on the Autobahn was way better in the M3 with the EDC
Fuel consumption lower with M3
DCT/Motor characteristic of M3 better
Handling (slalom) M3 much faster
Hockenheim race track: M3 1,1s faster
....

Frankly speaking and reading a bit between the lines: It was a slating review by the sport auto magazine. And just for your info. Sport Auto is the benchmark of all german car magazines for sport car enthusiasts.
I think that about sums it up.

When it grows up, will it also want to be an M3 just like the Audi RS5 wants too be?

I'm a bit surprised at the results, I thought the RS5 was going to be lighter and have more equal weight distribution...not to mention better acceleration. This is Audi's M3 killer, it's not even an equal despite following the M3 to market by three years. I'm actually sorta let down.

they're that close, it all comes down to the driver's skill anyway.

This coming from the guy with an S5....LOL!

You go ahead and spend more money on an inferior car....inferior at every level. Last time I checked, an Audi is below BMW in terms of luxury, quality, performance and overall desirability.

I love the M3 - and personally am happy to see the M3 maintain its performance status and personally - I still think it is one of the most understated performance cars available.

They should have tested a manual M3.

M3 vs RS5

I'm an M3 fanboy as much as most of you, but the RS5 is a very nice package and some might say better looking. Add in bad weather or snow and it could have a big advantage in safety and performance.

I can't see dissing the opposition for a good effort that no doubt would be very satisfying to own for most. It's not black or white, but shades of different colors, and what is important in a car ought to be more than numbers on a page, just like your wine selections should not be based purely on review scores. People should use both lobes of the brain.

That being said, given the comparative pricing, the choice for the M3 is a no-brainer, unless issues such as dealer access or such come into play.

The two cars are so similar performance wise that it's more of a looks vs. looks and RWD vs. AWD, the choice is not as black and white as M3 vs. ISF.

It's surprising to me that the RS5 is some 400lbs heavier...yet..it's only 1.1s slower at the very fast Hockenheim track.

RS5 is too sexy!
I don't care about the performance once it pleases me to certain point.
It's just like people buying Astons over porsche. Aston might be slower than p car and handles less, but who cares, you buy aston for the look.

If I had money, I would get RS5 in heart beat.

If you buy a sports car like a C63 AMG, M3, or RS5 to just look good on the road, you're a douche anyway. Just buy a 7er instead.
Well people buy cars to look good most of the times. Car is a one of the status symbol no matter what people say. Car is a materialistic piece of product at the end. You can't argue people should appreciate and actually use the power to buy the high performance cars. Maybe less than 10% of the buyers would actually use the power in "right setting". Do you buy rolex to focus on it's precision? I doubt it. Those good old $5 digital watches can do the same thing.

are you mad?

You're talking on a M3 forum, people on here generally have money to buy cars within M3/RS5 range but only very few are idiotic like you.

WHAT? 335 sound s like a Honda compared to the S4?

Wow I cant agree with that I mean S4 sounds nice,

but come on,, 335i is I-6 and S4 is V8. Also I think

BMW sounds so much better than audi,

A4 < 328i, s5 < 335i, a6 < 535i, s6 < M5, RS5 < M6, TTS < Z4 35i !
