wow, 10k miles and the rears are done??

ouch...

on my 335, the terrible riding runflat brickstones made it to 25k. I just washed the M and took a look at the rears that are almost done. maybe have another 2-3k..

12k miles is a little harsh lol...

is there a better tire as a replacement that will last longer?? I know that these are great for performance but most of my driving is normal daily driving so I'm willing to give up a little performance for some tread that will go beyond 12k.... and I take it easy on the tires; no track, no crazy starts etc..

can I put a different brand on the back while the front still has michelins??

that is about right! 10-12k is what you will get out of the rear tires.

With my 540i, my rear tire to front tire replacement ratio is 3:1. The rears get between 9-12k miles, the front tires get 25k miles. I think the m3 will be the same-

It looks like my rears will be gone at about 8000-8500 miles. I have 64xx right now. I feel like I drive pretty hard but we have crappy roads in my city. Twisty and hilly but poorly maintained.

have you considered Ultra high performance all season tires? Michelin Pilot sport A/S plus with a 500 tread wear rating, has a 40,000 mile warranty. Or even Pirelli PZero Nero's M/S.

Pretty much as an UHP all season tire will get eaten alive by a max peformance summer or UHP summer tire in terms of overall grip, road feel, etc (except in near freezing conditions).

No disrespect, but the car is a performance car and is designed to perform at a high level. Tires are consumables and if you run anything less than what the car came with, you are giving up performance.

It is the price you pay and should expect to pay when buying this or any other performance car. I have had cars that got 4-5K max on the rears and its the price of doing business.

10-12K for tires that get cornering .95G is really very good. Heck I can't get 200 miles out of a tank, over time tires look cheap....Steve

I could be wrong but I realise cars with Limited Slip Differential have no mechanical sympathy towards the rear tires.

I have done 10.000 km (6250miles) and i wil not get to 7500 miles i think ...

I am not necessarily complaining and I've had performance cars in the past, including a 335. I'm just saying that I thought these would last a little longer.

Aren't the bridgestones on the 335 performance tires on a performance car? In fact, I think I remember the treadwear rating on the bridgstones to be less than the ps2's yet they made it 25k with hard driving.
these with no so hard driving are almost done at 10,xxx. they do have about a thousand or two left...

I guess it's not the end of the world.

I don't want to switch to a different tire brand because;
a. the fronts are fine and then I will have different brands front and rear?
b. I'm sure the car is designed and performs best with OEM tires as I understand these are one of the best out there.
c. sometimes with "not the best" tires on a car like this, you all of a sudden have noise, rough ride etc.

all in all, I'll probably end up with another set of them on the rear soon and probably have answered my own questions lmao...

My dad Porsche needed new tires at 3k miles lol tread wear rating is 80

On my e46 I got approximately 25,000 miles on my PS2s. I didn't putz around, but I certainly wasn't on the edge of traction around every corner.

12,000 is a fair estimate on PS2 rears for pretty spirited driving.

I can't figure it out--I got 15-17 rear on my E46, and looks like 20+ on the E92. Both on PS2s. Doesn't make sense.

I think the PS2s are great tires for grip, noise and feel. I would not mix tires front and rear, though it probably won't throw him off the road.

the day before you do the swap don't forget to do a nice burnout w/ tons of smoke since they are going to be trash anyway....make sure to get a pic too....sorry its late and the hooligan side of me is coming out...

I guess I'll be happy if I see 10k+ and I have yet to do a single burn out....
