Normal noise?
My 2011 M3 is about two weeks old with 500 miles. I notice that after parking my car in the garage I hear a hot water (sizzle) noise every 15 seconds or so for several minutes. Is this normal? What is the likely cause?

Is your a/c on full blast? Are you outdoors whenever this happens? When the a/c is on full blast, condensation on the piping takes place, allowing water to drip on the ground. If the ground/asphalt is VERY hot (100+ degree weather), the water that drips on the ground causes it to sizzle. Or there might be a leak somewhere in the engine causing it to touch the manifold/hot engine parts which creates the sizzling noise. Just my $0.02. Last edited by e92_m3; 08-30-2010 at 06:58 PM.. |

It's a feature. Learn the timing, and then lick your finger and touch the car when people walk by, to prove how hot your car is.
