Dealer says oil change & air filter change not due at VEHICLE CHECK???

The car is a 2008 E92 M3 w/ DCT. The car had the 1200 oil change as required.

Then at 15,800 miles in May 2010 the car said a service was needed so I took the car in. The dealer performed an oil and filter change and changed the brake fluid. They said the air filter was not due with the oil change. I argued and they changed the air filter too

Then a year later at 26,000 miles (May 2011), I took the car in for an annual oil change. All they did was oil and oil filter.

Now at 29,500 miles the display tells me I need a Vehicle Check, so I take the car in to get this done. I just picked up the car and they said that no oil change or air filter change is due with the Vehicle Check, and that oil and air filter is a separate service. My display says my next oil change is due in 6000 miles (Which I think is based on the May 2011 oil change), and the dealer still maintains that the air filter doesn't get changed with the oil, which is over 20,000 miles between air filter changes.

Can someone please clear this up for me? Can anyone post the official details of what gets done at each service?

It should be in your manual what all gets done at what milleage... Plus, I don't think you should wait that long for oil/filter change... Just my 02 cents.

Two ways to do it ...

1) Your Manual should outline the details (I have a 2012 so I cannot speak for your 2008)

or

2) Go to this link CLICK then enter your M3 details and Milage.

Sorry to hear about this. Unfortunately I don't think there's an "official schedule". You can check your owner's manual, but if it conflicts with what the dealer's computer says, the computer wins. You can also try to call BMW NA, but they'll just refer you back to the dealership. I'd just pay out of my own pocket if it makes me sleep better at night.

Open your BMW Service and Warranty Information Manual to page 7 and show them this.

"At every engine oil change:Intake air cleaner: replace air filter element (reduce replacement interval in dusty operating conditions)."

Well, on page 7 of my manual (MY 2011) under Engine Oil Service it says "At every 2nd engine oil change: Intake air cleaner: Replace air filter element...".

In miles, that works out to about 30,000 miles. Much too long IMHO. You might try to envoke the "...(reduce replacement interval in dusty operating conditions.)" clause.
