Where to mount radar detector?

Where and how do you guys mount your radar detectors in your E92? Is there a certain mount that you can buy for the m3? I used to have this mount called the Voztech mount for my corvette. Just seeing if there is something similar for the m3. Or if you get it wired to the battery, where do you place it? Its for a V1, by the way.

I've heard the same thing about the cordless range, but I think it works just fine.

it seems to work fine so far. It is getting a little old though. I will let you know when i get my first ticket. Came close today on back roads lucky he had someone already pulled over. He steped into the street and pointed at me and motioned to slow down. got away with one.

Voztech mounting bracket

Designed for the C6 Corvette but with a bit of bending it works on an E90 M3.

http://www.vettemods.com/radarbracket-c6.htm

Bend to fit the contour of the headliner, drill a hole for the post used in the BMW visor mount, cut off the alignment piece under the screw hole on the BMW visor mount and it fits quite well. I reused the BMW screw (t20 torx) - it is long enough.

Ran the power cord up the passenger side A-pillar and used add-a-fuse in the fuse box (socket 5).

most radar detector manuals say to mount as high as possible while still leaving visibility for the rear-facing sensor.

Standard visor mount works fine; not sure what advantage this has, unless you want to tilt visor down to adjust you makeup.

What seems to be the consensus on this style mount vs. the visor mount?

Not sure if there is a consensus, but under mirror to me seems more visible and too low for best reception.

My passport is mounted on the lower part of the windshield so that when mounted, it floats about an inch from the top of the console (above the nav section). I experimented with different areas before I decided to hardwire it. I did not notice any difference in the range and I prefer the the lower location since I mostly drive with the sun visors folded down to block more sun. The locations by the rear view mirror just didn't work for me.
