I would like to figure out the optimum rear wheel size and offset to be able to fit 285/30/19 and be tastefully aggressive. No rubbing of course.

I am thinking 19x10.5 ET 22mm (??) How about ET 20?

Front tire would be stock sized 245/30/19 tire on a 19x9 ET18mm wheel.

I wouldn't run a 10.5 inch wheel on a 285 tire. Too much stretch IMO.

My 10" wheel on 275s looks stretched. To me, a 10" wheel is ideal for 285/295 tires.

My morr wheels are 19x10 with et20 and look awesome. They would look even better on 285s.

I have 18x10.5 te37sl's with 285/35/18 rs3's and there's no stretch at all, maybe 19's are different though.

^This. I have the same setup. No stretch whatsoever.

Also OP, why do you want to run stock size front tires but up-size the rears? Sounds like a recipe for understeer.

No matter what you do there will be pros and cons. The wider rear is obviously for more grip. I am hoping that by increasing the front track width a little more than the rear, it will counteract the effect of going to a wider rear tire with respect to understeer. The reason for not going to a wider front tire is that in doing so, a little of the steering sharpness is diminished.

The wider track isn't going to make up for the extra rubber out back, you will have more understeer.

I would go to at least a 255/35/19 for the front, you won't notice any loss in sharpness at all and it will help offset the rear while diminishing understeer.

I agree with Dave07997S. I'm running 255/285 PSS and I did not notice any loss of steering sharpness. If anything steering response, sharpness and initial turn-in feels much better than stock (using 9.5et22 F and 10et25 R wheels).

Going to 255/35 front an 285/30 rear just seems like it would mess with the DSC too much (??) That is a 7mm increase in front diameter and a simultaneous 13 mm decrease in rear diameter. That is a 20mm overall change from stock. And don't the 255/35s rub the inner fender on full turn?

I'm running 18" wheels so my tires are 255/40 and 285/35. If anything, DSC cuts in even less with this setup than it does with stock tire sizes. Zero rubbing even at full lock. I'm running an aftermarket suspension with 600/800 lbf/in spring rates and my car has been lowered ~1" front and rear.

Isn't the 255/35-19 only ~5 mm larger in diameter than the 245/35-19? Now, on my 19" wheels I am going to run the 255/35 and 285/30 setup.

18" wheels are F 9.5et22 and R 10et25

19" wheels are F 9.5et22 and R 10et27

I've been waiting to see if Michelin was going to release a 285/30-19 PSS but it's not looking good. I'm done waiting and now trying to decide whether I should go with the AD08 or PZero - leaning toward the AD08.

BTW, my original post was addressing your concern about steering responsiveness with a 255 front tire, not the 19" tire sizes/diameters.

I decided long ago to step out the box and get a 295-30-19 for the rear and I'm still deciding on the front. Fronts will be 265-30 or 275-30......the 275 is actually cheaper. I'll decide this week and order. Need to take advantage of the $70 rebate Michelin has going......Phil
