COMMENTS

BIMMERPOST sponsored this past weekend's Airstrip Attack, a runway shootout race event held at the Trona Airport near Death Valley, California. The event saw some of the most powerful European, Domestic, and Japanese cars from California go head-to-head on a half mile stretch of tarmac. The classes ranged from 400hp+ all the way to 1000hp+.

The following race featured an ESS VT650 Arkym Supercharged BMW M3 vs. a Porsche 911 997 Twin Turbo (w/ upgraded turbos). Full specs of the cars are listed in the video.

Wow. Pulled pretty good with that Porsche! There's a TT Porsche 997 that used to go to the track with me and that was an absolute ROCKET! Would love to see this M3 in person.

It's a half mile from cone to cone. We went from ~50-165+MPH Long enough for me for sure.

There is a mistake in the Mod description, the ESS VT650 Arkym does not have an innovative xpipe / exhaust, it is running the new Arkym Valvetronic Exhaust and catless xpipe.

That 997 should be making a little more than 600 at the wheels. If i'm correct he's running Champion 63.5mm vtg's, their smallest billet turbos. Stock rods have been known to bend on those motors around the mid 6xxawhp range. That 997 does have more torque and a little more hp, but it's hard to compete with that DCT. Now, if that 997.1 were a 997.2 and had PDK, it might've been a different story. I was surprised that m3 held up so well. This arkym car really made a point for the m3's at this event.

I have to completely disagree with you. You need only to look at the SWITZER Sledgehammer package for mk.1 997's which put out 850whp on stock internals. That package runs 9.67 @ 146mph in the quarter! The car which race this ///M3 is a mildly modded bolt on turbo.
