Stuck between ED Individual e92 or CPO e90
Hey guys.
One of those long time lurkers first time posters. I am getting ready to purchase my M3 pretty soon and I am running into second thoughts and looking for feedback. I was originally planning on placing an order for an Individual E92 M3 with European Delivery around Jan 2013 and pick up around May 2013 for my honeymoon (Yes, she's totally down for it). The only reason why I would have second thoughts about this is because the newer M3 is coming out ( which I kinda don't want ) and I would be paying a premium for a car that would soon be outdated. OR I could pick up a lightly used, good condition e90/e92 M3 now and enjoy it without the wait. I am leaning towards the ED/Individual option but curious to see the feedback..what would you do? |

Pretty tough decision, because its comparing 2 different arguments (both with great points). Passion for the current V8/S65 engine will continue, but if you are already thinking you may get the next M3/4 (despite no one truly knowing exactly what it will end up being like, albeit probably just as amazing), there probably wouldn't be a point to pay for a customized M3, other than getting the wonderful experience of ED.
Do you have any experience driving the current M3? If you love everything about it, I'd say customize one to your liking and opt for the ED. But if you have some hesitations and are truly concerned about it being outdated in 2 years, you probably should just get a 2011 and enjoy it while we wait to see what BMW has in store for us next go around. If it were me, I'd do the ED and keep it for 3 years, then think about it again at that point. (But I think the high-revving V8 will be hard to get rid of)

Got back from an ED Trip 6 weeks ago.
My recommendation is simple. If you have the opportunity to do ED, do not miss out. If you decide you want the new M3/4 when it comes out, then sell the M and do another ED. |

I'm pretty sure I do not want the newer M3. I love the fact that this will be last of the NA engines BMW M will manufacture and I actually have the chance to have one in my possession. So that should clear up any misunderstandings in my post.

ED is an awesome expierence, I dont think I ever read or heard of anyone who went coming back and saying "wish I didn't do that". Everyone who goes seems to really enjoy the whole trip and enjoy thier cars that much more. When you go on ED you have a story for life and in a way you become more bonded to your car because of the trip.
other option is you could get a used individual M3? There is a really nice one for sale in the cars for sale section

Hands down ED if the option and resources present themselves. There are a lot of chronicles of ED on the forum that might help solidify your decision.

Thanks for the replies guys. You definitely clarified the decision for me, the ED is a "priceless" option. I have no interest in the newer M3 my only issue that had me second-guessing buying the car was should I buy the brand new car or CPO. I'm pretty sure I'm going Brand New ED route!
