normal, read the manual about all the noises these cars make.. It seems every day there is a new thread about noises....

These cars are noisy period; clunks, creaks, rattles, all part of the experience.

yes, a 5 series is.. You're missing the point, the M3 is a high performance car and as such you get the infamous m-clunk, rear diff noises, etc.. It's not relative to the cost. It's due to performance oriented nature

I felt the same when I heard the sound, but the M is mainly about performance and not luxury.

LOL +1
seriously though, its fine. I have the dct and I can hear it clunk into reverse when I'm backing up or back into 1st when I switch back. It's just cuz its designed to be max performance. So when you go slow, it makes noise. The sounds go away when you shift while going faster. The gearboxes on normal bmw's are designed to be quiter and shift slower so they don't make noise. "luxurious" is what I'd call that mentality.

I use the sounds this car makes when going slow as proof it hates going slow.
"but officer, if I go less than 60 i can hear the gearing clunk, so I have to go 100 in the parking lot!"
