Removing mirror covers

Hi Guys

Forgive me if this is a simple task but are there any tips on removing mirror covers apart from the obvious of 'don't snap them!'

I pulled them off with my fingers, start at the top and then the bottom, it will give a crack during the process but should pop off ok. No need for tools
