I think he means compared to X-pipes for other cars. Particularly American muscle and Import cars. BUT, they tend to sell a lot more units.
In the end, there's always going to be a BMW tax + /M tax.
My buddy just got a 991 and wants to get an exhaust... they start at $9,000 and that's just for the side/middle mufflers. No HFCs in that price.

He's taking pre-orders now from what I understand. Time frame for production is right around 2 months after the first 10 orders are placed - again, this is all from what I'm understand.

Thanks for the information. Considering its made of SS and there are no resonators or cats on it that would add cost I hope there is some sort of group buy. Who ever made 2k the standard for any quality x-pipe should be shunned
maybe you haven't done much exhaust shopping my friend, but 2k ends up being a bargain when you start doing your price comparisons.
What other SS, non catted, non resonated x-pipes cost more? This isnt meant to be a tacky price bash because being in the engineering profession I realize costs add up. With that said all the design and test efforts are done and we aren't paying a tax here for a big name like Kressieg etc. I'll leave it at that because from what I've read the product looks well thought out and the manufacturing practices look solid. I do appreciate you getting the latest information out to the us.

To clarify a bit on the cost of this system: it is constructed of SS321, not SS304. The system is also a bespoke, hand made system. This ensures top quality in manufacturing and consistency.

The flanges are designed in Solidworks and machined to meet the specifications for the OES BMW sealing gasket for the header to mid-section. The rear ball flange is also constructed with the exact same tolerances and specifications of the BMW ball seat, it is not a generic ball seat flange (which typically works, but may leak).

Thanks for the reply Malek. Is there a place I can go to get all the information (spec, price, payment option, production time frame, etc). Feel free to PM me or just post a link in this thread. I'm debating between your x-pipe and the gintani (quad or dual) resonated piece.

We have no plans or intentions to produce this system with HFC's at this time.

I'm interested in your x-pipe as well. I currently have an AE Performance non-resonated x-pipe with HJS high flow cats. Looking to go catless...

So just to clarify, the only option with this setup is to go completely catless? I thought there was mention of the system being tested with a 100 cell HFC (maybe that was just for testing purposes?). The wife does NOT like smelling of exhaust when going to dinner... lol

From what I understand, MRF doesn't have any intentions to build this unit with cats. If memory serves, Malek did mention that at some point during the development of the kit they had tested the kit with cats. But that was only during testing.

Regarding your last comment, you can't smell the exhaust from inside the car. The only time I've smelled it is when I'm at a dead stop and there is a strong wind from the direction of the exhaust back to the cabin. In other words, it's pretty uncommon.

I guess I need to find someone around here with a completely catless car and see how bad it is... Would hate to leave power on the table if I didn't have to!
