Actually they are just a marketing device - C&D. The review is not just about DCT or PDK. They bring up the same old tired topics - 911 rear end, etc. People who have extensively driven both will know the comparison is meaningless as I said above. It's apples to oranges - where the price is close. Does that make sense to you? Sure doesn't to me. This was my point. M3 is impressive, yes. But some prefer the 911. Again, stupid comparison. They hardly went in-depth about DCT and PDK. A transmission comparison would be a lot more interesting - a real in-depth comparison that is. This is surface garbage IMO.

Unfortunately, the m3's dual clutch transmission's only advantage is the use of paddles. I have to agree wholeheartedly with urbo73. The comparison is ridiculous, although rather typical for any of these rags to print.

Even if the base 911 (non S) without sport chrono (a must have on a PDK equipped car) is really 1. whatever slower on this particular track, just wait for another few laps and see where the differences are, as the BMW's brakes fade.

But the Carrera just isn't worth the price IMO. For those kinda dollars, the M3 isn't the only car I'm taking over it.
Amen to that. If it were a GT2, GT3 or Turbo? Of course go Porsche, but Carrera? Please. M3 hands down.

Why? I like even the base Carrera. It's light, I like its handling with the rear-engine (can brake later, etc.), etc. etc. I can go on. There is no *better* car. Just individual preferences.

To those that say the "base" Carrera is not powerful enough, list your lap times and the circuit at which you drove your car. A good driver can run circles with a base Carrera, base Cayman 2.7, etc. around most forum members here.

It seems that some members believe in these "almighty" stats, when in reality, it simply comes down what one enjoys.

A 911 feels like a sports car all the time, which many, like me, love about it. You don't get that from many cars.

Porsches are great cars - but I think they are overpriced. Plus they are not as practical. I think its awesome that such a practical coupe/sedan with a real trucnk and rear seat can keep up with or beat THE ultimate sprots car. As for DCT vs. PDK.... I got a manual tranmission!!!!!
