328i mileage
Obviously driving habits vary from person to person, which will lead to different fuel consumption rates, but I'd just like to compare how people's actual mileage on the 328i (non-Xdrive) compares with the claimed 6.3L/100km (37MPG) combined.
After doing 2000+kms, I'm averaging 11.5L/100km (20MPG) running on 98RON. What about you? |

varying between 10 to 20 minutes of stop & go traffic i'm averaging anywhere between 29+mpg/12+kpl to 32+mpg/14kpl depending on how much highway I do over the weekends. No cruise & barely any eco mode. have 3500 miles. actually have experienced some funny takeoff/sudden jump when throttling in eco mode but thats for a separate thread later

328i xDrive with about 2600km (~1600 miles):
10 l/100km (23.52 MPG) not very satisfied with that number. I guess my 7km drive to work down a steep hill and 7km back up the hill are the cause for this. When I go for a long trip on the Autobahn the consumption drops a lot... Edit: using Shell E95 Last edited by dirksterzel; 08-15-2013 at 01:57 AM.. Reason: Added fuel tipe |

I'm tracking with Fuelly, and so far with 10 fill-ups I am at exactly 28.0 MPG. Best tank: 30.3 MPG. Worst tank: 24.8 MPG.
I was in Miami and Ft. Lauderdale last week, and could not seem to break 20 MPG for the bit of driving I did in traffic there, but driving across Alligator Alley I maintained 37 MPG. |

Setup - All-season pirelli tires (non-offset wheels)
Conditions - City/Country Roads Style - Average 60% / Aggressive 40% Fuel - 93 Premium Best - Using Eco-PRO 41.2 mpg Worst - 23.1 mpg Average - 27.5 - 28 mpg Note - i recently had a 328i loaner and noticed the gas mileage to be terribly low (22 mpg) and I wasn't really beating on it. I reset the mpg and drove normally where I would usually obtain 26-30 mpg driving style and couldn't get it above 23 mpg. Conclusion - I, as I'm sure like others, do not put premium fuel in a loaner. I only used 87 octane and I believe this had a detrimental effect on the fuel economy.

I do a lot of city and traffic driving and am averaging 28 MPG right now.
If you're stuck in the city and traffic and using sport mode, you'll find it hard to hit 30 MPG, 25MPG is more realistic. But if you baby it in Eco Pro, you could easily get 35+ on the highway. |

I have a 328i with all season tires, use premium - always- and average 27 in reg mode (never remember to bother with turning Eco back on since it turns off every time I turn off the car). I do 50/50 highway/city, maybe a bit more highway depending on the week. I averaged 32 for a 5 hr drive using cruise set at 75mph last month. I have almost 7,000 miles on the car.

I cannot believe that the ECO mode will get you 35+ mpg. I tried it but the auto turn off and start drove me crazy. Guess I will try it on my next trip to Raleigh.

Quite happy with mine considering 9.3 l/100km in hilly suburban stop start traffic. That is using the fill to fill method. Sydney is VERY hilly esp in my area, so this is great. I mix eco pro with sports. Dont use comfort much.
If i go out on the freeway that drops a lot to low 7s. My long term average includes freeway is 8.6 l/100km according to the computer My golf twincharger 1.4 on sports tyres used 7.8 l/100. So 328i is awesome for the performance you are getting. I keep getting jealous of the 320d guys but the characteristics and noise are not for me and worth the 2 litre saving. |

8,500 miles on a 328i xdrive and I'm averaging about 23 - 24. 60/40 city highway in hilly Philly suburbs. I guess I have a heavy foot. I also only use ecoPro in stop and go traffic.

Looks like my mileage is just about as bad as it gets can't complain about the performance tho.
I guess I do drive pretty aggressively. Apart from the first 5 mins or so in comfort mode while warming up, I spend most of my time in sport mode using the paddles, keeping it within 2000-4000rpm unless I'm in the mood for some fun Also looks like most of you have travelled further than I have. Did mileage happen to improve for you at all after 2500km? I'm on all season bridgestones. |

I've got 5k miles on my x-drive. My daily commute is 5 mins in stop and go traffic (in comfort mode). I get about 18MPG.
On long highway trips, I get 34-36MPG without too much effort, and am driving in hilly and curvy terrain. I run 90 octane (best we can get in AK).
