A tech I know says fuel injector problems are very common on S85 engines so it is no surprise that has trickled down to ours. Wild guess on my part but I often wonder what the effect of ethanol in our fuel systems has in conjunction with the use of the cars. Do garage queens suffer more from injector failure than daily driven cars? Is long term ethanol soaking degrading fuel lines/o-rings that perhaps weren't specified for long term high ethanol content fuel? I'd like to think M engineers were more pragmatic than that. Apples to oranges comparison but I have an 08 STI with the original injectors/coils fuel pump that I daily drive in nearly bone stock form with no added boost and have yet to experience any fuel related problems over 168K miles. But I know e85 turns the fuel lines to mush on Subarus of that vintage. My injectors on the M3 were replaced 6K miles ago to troubleshoot some hesitation issues that were actually x-pipe related according to the previous owner. So I have a little peace of mind for now but, as a weekend car I worry way more about the M. |

So cleaning my injectors was $40 each. Not really worth it, but it's done.
The shops cost for new ones is $50+ each. .

Let me get this straight... You are swapping out parts designed by some of the top engineers in the world because some guys sponsored by a company told you it's "better??" But when you ask the same guy about tracking, "oh no, I have a kid now" or "I just detailed my car." or "i just got new tires."

True. I inquired from a few companies online and they mainly just clean them and change o-rings, but they claim there are no parts available for a real rebuild.
