The Life and Death of a E92 M3

Hi there everyone my name is Trevor, i am 18 years old. To some of you, you may be thinking oh lord what happened right off the bat. Which i totally understand, but heres the story. I was born and raised around Atvs and other offroad buggies and fun out there so i had good driving experience. My first car was a 1995 BMW 525i that broke within 2 weeks of having it from mechanical problems, the car i got after that was a 2004 VW R32 Silver, from a young man in his twenties in San Francisco. My mother then took the R32 from me because she fell in love with it and i found a slightly modded black one for sale, Which i purchased and drove. I constantly appeared at many car meets and such, but it came time that me and my father decided that i get a nicer car. My first choice E46 M3 dream car, my dad thought they were to much of a classic and he decided to look at the E92 M3s. We looked at a few until we found a very nice one at Crevier BMW which already was lowered and had Lm Reps on it! Plus for me! it was a 2008 base model, no edc or MDM, sunroof and 6MT. We traded in the silver R32 that i originally had for the M, my mom gladly accepted my black one instead of the silver one she drove.

After a month or two the mod bug had hit me! But it was indeed very pricey compared to other cars i owned. I equipped the m3 with a RPI GTM axleback Exhaust, Rpi Induction kit, Secondary cat and res delete, Mfest goodies, BBS center caps and some tint, and small aesthetics.

The car attended Wekfest in Long beach with Mfest fam! and was welcomed as one of their own! i always went to chris for mods and for badges and rondels and stickers.

As shown above went to a dyno night and did 356whp, one of the quickest NA M3 at a mfest dyno night.
basically the show season and meet season ended. And everything was getting ready for next year. I had more mods coming in and the main ones were Te37 19s in bronze with Kwv3 coilovers.
Until Tragedy struck when one day i had poor poor judgement going to a Auto Service school in camarillo off of las posas.

I turned off DSC and since i did not have MDM i had no stability. Poor call on my judgement i wanted to hit a straight away in a second gear pull with no power cut. So i did and i approached a turn rather quick and managed to not see the loose gravel... I hit the gravel and the car kicked out sideways i pulled it back but failed. I then hit a curb and the car flipped upside into a ditch of boulders. My first thought was Wtf, i was more upset about the car itself then i was my own body. The airbags did not deploy nor did any windows break or crash. I was quickly helped and taken out of the car by fellow people who saw this. I had no injury luckily but all i could think about was the car and what i just did and how all my time, money and blood sweat and tears went into the car. I will update this thread with pictures of the aftermath when the car was towed. and i saw all the damage. All i can say is i have learned a lesson and luckily my insurance payed me more then what i got the car for and luckily my father allowed me to stay on his insurance and help me look into getting another M3. I understand my mistakes and i know people on this forum are probably going to make fun of me and say see this is what happens but hopefully some of you show some respect. And i can say now i am looking for race schools in socal if anyone wants to help.

I was embarrassed Btw at this happening and many people knew this but never saw me say anything about it, But since i have seen more people post about crashes it somewhat made me want to share my experience and the pain it actually makes you go through. Talk about the bad rep i was getting from people i didnt even know. I will still be known as the kid who crashes his M3 in all of ventura county, I have met people who said you had a white m3? and i say yea there like damn im sorry you crashed it. One of the worst feelings of all time is responding to something like that. I just hope people who endure the same pain can still enjoy themselves and there car life.

There horrible will post the pics apparently the car was salvageable according to the police. But pulling that thing out involved flipping it over, and dragging it through rocks apparently thats what killed it. When i find the camera these were on i will post them up!

Really? You're 18 and exhibited poor judgment in a 414HP car you were woefully ill equipped to drive? Well, I suppose there's a first time for everything.

Glad your poor judgment didn't end up hurting anyone, yourself included.

I now know the limits of the car and am slowly discovering new things about the car and learning how to do maintence and everything by myself. I am also looking for some sort of race or track school so i can further my driving experience.

Not a great surprise that you crashed your car. Young inexperienced drivers have terrible accident statistics even in moderately powerful cars. If I'd had a 400bhp car at 18yrs old I doubt I would have made 19.
What were your parents thinking encouraging you into a car you that and pretty much every 18 years driver would be incapable of driving safely.
Still you lucked in and no one got hurt.
Do yourself a favour and buy something a little more in your experience/skill league for a few years.

There's something to be said for working hard for something, maybe it would have been treated with more respect if the pain of the dollars spent was felt by the OP rather than the OPs dad.

just sayin....

Are you saying you care more about your car than OP? Accidents happen. Doesn't always mean he doesn't respect the car.

I had a tuned Mini Cooper S (old school) when I was 18 and I drove like a twat. Thats how 18 years old drive and thats why so many get killed in car accidents every year.

If someone is going to drive like a twat, they're gonna do it regardless of what vehicle they have or what age they are. I've seen grown men drive like immature monkeys.

This.

To the OP, sorry to hear about your accident, but you shouldn't be getting around with no DSC, regardless of what you think your experience is.

im saying i have the wisdom of age and wisdom of dollars spent. maybe the comparison shouldnt be who cares more or less. let's just say i have the experience to know how to protect what i worked hard for and spent so long building to. as opposed to "hopefully daddy will buy me a new one"

it's what's wrong with this society.

That sucks, but hey, you're a much safer driver now than you were before.
And you'd rather total your car on the track & learn a great experience from it than total it on the street & get other people involved.

Keep tracking, but go with more organized track events man.

My problem is that with all these people (age/gender not a factor here) that think they can "handle the car" and shut off the DSC and crash, then ALL insurance rates go up. CUT IT OUT. Go buy a Porsche or Audi or something... I pay enough for insurance as it is.
