have te same issue with mine - i just deal with it and fill the oil every 3-5 mos like you. are you aware of any sources that sell the 09+ cap? i tried to get it from BMW (under warranty), but they refused. disagreed that the cap was in fact faulty / leaking.

also: the steering wheel - mine is starting to peel as well.

I'm at 67k now. No intention of getting another M3.

A8 or S8 is on the list for this old man, next.

I've owned it since this summer. Love the car, but have had to take care of several things since I got her. Thankfully I caught some major ones while under warranty!

AC Evaporator (just caught this, they will replace at my next visit)
iDrive controller came loose (same as above)
Rear sunshade motor replaced
Trim on door pulls and around iDrive controller replaced
Rattle in dash resolved

I went ahead and picked up EasyCare TotalCare (3 yrs, 85k miles, $500 deduct) for ~$2600 for some peace of mind and a hedge against any huge bill in the next few years.

These two repairs they're doing soon really opened my eyes some on the costs that come with this car. They have to remove the entire dash to get at the evaporator (would have been $2700) and have to replace the entire iDrive piece just because the epoxy broke (would have been $900).

Gotta pay to play, I guess!
What's easy care? Who through and how much?

$2600 seems like a pretty good deal.
http://www.easycare.com/

I haven't had any problems, but from reading the forums, I kind of wish I went with an extended warranty

Great option it seems, $2,600 is a reasonable amount vs. the $3k+ that BMW charges you. Haven't read the fine print, but wonder how they treat modified / tuner cars...

That's one of my biggest fears for this car is the AC condenser. How'd you catch the issue? Don't mind replacing engine parts, but removing the entire dash on my own doesn't seem feasible.

My steering wheel trim was already a little rough when I got the car from 1st owner. Can get it pretty cheap from Tischer though.

My whole dash lit up
The car goes into limp mode and I read my code. Did the DIY and it wasn't that bad (check my sig)

2008 E92 - 50K miles
Mods include air filter, that is it.

Only problem is 'engine malfuction' warning came one (though car didn't feel any different), dealer couldn't figure out what it was, replaced engine wiring harness and the problem disappeared (under warranty).

Out of BMW warranty now, but since I bought my car through CarMax, I have their 6 yr, 125K mile warranty, so not too worried for a while about big ticket items. Wear and tear items are on me and will replace with modifications!

I have an 08 E90M3 with 50k. Bought it 2 years ago with 30k as a CPO with 1.5 years of original warranty also at that time. So far, there has been no warranty work.

The regular warrant expired a year ago, so I do the maintenance now. At about 40k, I did the oil and filter, diff fluid, brake fluid, tranny fluid, spark plugs, cabin filter, etc. Everything but the coolant and that is on the list. Battery is likely near the end of its life and will be replaced probably with an Autozone or other local shop battery with a 3 year replacement warranty.

Shifts well, drives well. No issues yet. I did some light mods, like H&R Sport springs with cut guide tubes and E36M3 bump stops, braided steel brake lines, StopTech Street pads, UD pulley, K&N filter, x-pipe, and Vishnu Procede with water/meth. Thinking about an axle back and maybe an intake pipe.

No issues with the original oil cap. If I did have them, I would replace the rubber gasket seal. After that, I would look at the crankcase vent system. On short distance cars, it can get gummed up. If the pressure cannot vent fully, oil will come wherever it can get out.

I park my car in the garage at home and at work, so I never noticed an issue with my AC since I got the car this summer, but my wife drove it on a really hot day months ago and complained about it. I didn't think that much of it at the time, however.

I took the car down to the F1 race in Austin in November and noticed that, when the sun was shining hard into the car, the AC had trouble cooling it down, so I made a point at one of my last visits before the warranty was up to mention this to my SA. He had them put the dye in, and we re-checked it before the warranty was up. Leak confirmed = new evaporator.

Had to give my wife a big thank you for complaining about it!

As far as EasyCare goes, it seemed (from my research) to be the best regarded of the aftermarket warranty options. Time will tell whether it was worth the money or not, but I wasn't about to spend as much as BMW was asking for theirs, and it will make me sleep better at night if nothing else. A $500 bill out of pocket is a lot easier for me to handle right now than a $5000 bill. With this car, I'm more worried about the electronics than anything else, so I didn't want to get just Powertrain+ coverage from BMW, as some have.

That's what I figured happened. This is frightening, to say the least. Cool to know you were at the race. I was there too, at Turn 1. That was the first time I've ever heard an F1 car in real life. I'll take that weekend to the grave with me.

We hung out at turn 1 on Saturday, but camped in front of the grandstands between 9 & 10 on race day. Was there with two of my brothers - first time for me, too. Spine tingles just thinking of the sound and fury of those machines rocketing by...

Can't wait to take my kids one day.

2008 E93 - June 2008 Build - bought it new - can't believe I've had it for almost 5 years now.

59k miles - daily driver. Easy care warranty up to 7 years, 100k miles with $250.00 deductible.

Issues:

1) Got the software updates to address the early DCT "stall" issues within first year of ownership - no problems with that issue since.

2) Also had solenoid replaced for one of the cylinders after it was throwing a fault code - but couldn't tell it was an issue while driving it before the fix went into place.

I don't track the car - but also don't baby it - plenty of rev's right up to 8400 when I get a chance. Love starting out in 1st gear and blasting right up to around 35-40 mph before shifting to 2nd - the S65 has been so "bulletproof" based upon my own experience and from reading others' on this forum that I'm totally comfortable with that (S65 was specifically designed to be revv'd on a regular basis - so makes sense).
