Tuning a 2009 M3 Coupe
I just picked up my 2008 M3 sedan this week ( wife's car ) and absolutly love it. I plan on ordering a 2009 coupe this weekend and was wondering aside from exhaust, what can be done to increase HP without voiding warrenty on car. Thanks

hp
I'm not a speed\race freak by any means, we have a few cars that are in the 400 plus HP range, and the M3 E90 that I just picked up is wickedly quick. I plan on leaving the sedan bone stock for my wife. Just want to personalize mine a bit, nothing crazy like engine swap or anything, but would def like to change out exhaust and possibly some other tweaks here and there. Mind you this will be my daily drive and replace an SL55 that I've been using for the past 2 years.

Do not think anyone is? When I had my M5 wth 507 I was not happy - managed to bring it up to 530, and I was still not happy

A raspier sound from the exahaust. A quicker 0-60. A quicker means to the gas station. A better mixure of air & fuel. A means to whip some ars on some of the bigger boys? Whatever you reasons, you can surely get another 100hp easy with mods that doesn't have to do with an engine overhaul...

i'd like a little bit raspier sound. and possibly a quicker 0-60 time. i usually lease my cars but plan on buying the coupe but still would not like to void the warr. been driving the the sedan now for 2 days and although i'm impressed with what the car can do, the sound is sort of soft. i would be happy with a 30 - 50hp increase if i could do it without going insane. btw, here's wifes car

I'm going to tread gently here, but look, many people here have posted they have problems with the DCT, or with this or that rattle, or with noises from the suspension, etc. on the new M3.
If I were you, I wouldn't run off to mod this car while under warranty. You really don't want to be in a situation where your dealer is blaming your mods for a problem with the car. |

There are tons of things you can do. Just read my signature. By the way my dealer knows every mod I have done and they don't have a problem with it. Also it's good to know the service manager personally.

There are a variety of upgrades out there for this car. I recommend at least upgrading the filter to the aFe High Performance Filter in either oiled or dry and even going for a pulley set.
I also highly recommend the Active Autowerke Performance Software to complement the increased air flow from these mods. |
