Will pre-LCI tail lights work on a 2011 E92 LCI?

I did a search and did not find any definate answer on this one. I have a 2010 E92 with pre-LCI lights that I would like to swap with a 2011 E92 LCI. Will the pre-LCI tail lights work without and hassle on the 2011 E92? Will I need any special harness? TIA!

i'm pretty sure many people have gotten it to work on the coupe
on the sedan you can't as the trunk was changed with the LCI
you just have to code the car so you don't get error codes due to the bulb warning with LEDs

I'm sure he already knows that.

What he wants to know is if a 2011 car can use his older Pre-LCI lights as he is doing a swap with someone.

whats the difference?
if the new ones can go on the old car with coding
the old ones can go on the new car with coding

only issue would be if the wires are thinner gauge on the new cars because of less power draw from LED

Connectors are different, will not work.

Can you cut and tape the wires to make it work?

Soldering is preferred, but with the correct pinouts - yes.

He has a friend trading in his newer BMW and wants to swap the tail lights. This story is pure speculation on my part but I'm sticking with it

I'm trying to find someone to swap with me (with a little cash incentive of course).

I'm just making sure it can be done before doing the legwork!

That is what I was thinking too. Ridiculous if you ask me.
