Porsche Boxster Spyder: The Lightest Porsche You Can Buy

http://jalopnik.com/5397675/porsche-...he-you-can-buy

At 2,811 lbs — only 11 lbs more than the 10-year-old 986 Porsche Boxster — the new 2011 Porsche Boxster Spyder will be the lightest Porsche you can buy after it's unveiled at next month's LA Auto Show.

But it's not just lighter, it's also powerful thanks to the Boxster Spyder's 3.4-liter six-cylinder engine putting out 320 horses — that's 10 more HP than the Boxster S. So, wait, let's get this straight — it'll be 176 lbs lighter than the Boxster S and get a touch more power? Wow.

If you're already wondering where you sign up — here's better news. The new Porsche also gets an all-new sport suspension that lowers the Boxster Spyder 20 mm providing a lower center of gravity and a standard limited slip differential.

Mate the performance to a unique look reminiscent of the Carrera GT and we already know you're getting your checkbooks ready. But wait, like Billy Mays used to say, there's more — the price tag on the new lightweight Porsche-uh is just $61,200 when it goes on sale in February.

Ah. One car i'll always miss is my 986 boxster. This one is freaking gorgeous. GT2 seats, GT3 door panels, 2,811 pounds and a drop top. Awesome!

Looks pretty attractive, and I love the fact that it has reduced weight.

Yet I'll save my money for the GT3, of course.

Not bad for a cockster. Looks good and will obviously be a performer. Go Porsche!

Edit:

Maybe I'll get the wife one. For me, I will opt for a GT3.

It's not a cockster, it's a Boxster (Cayman is the cockster, lol)

Anyway, awesome, awesome car. Damn, I want one!
Sure GT3 is nicer but twice the price. This is great value

Yep Talk about great value. 987 model cayman/boxster's cost just about the same to make as a regular 911.

if they made a lighter version of Cayman S, give it a little power bump now that would be sweet

Are you for real? Sorry, I'm a new member, can't tell.
In case you are not joking, have you considered that some people actually like the balance of the mid-engine car? Boxster S can be easily in the mid 70s to low 80 if you add options, that's Carrera territory.

I don't think he is joking at all. I'm sure many feels like me, it is seriously a girly looking car.

real world experience. my boss and my wife who don't know much about car saw the boxter, pointed at it and told me, the shape of the center exaust and the rear looked like a woman an@l hole. No, seriously true. the boxter just happens to scream chick everywhere even to those who are not into car.

Does PCA allow these on the track?!? I know that, unfortunately, BMW wouldn't.

This is a sweet looking car!

Boys who think this way are:

A. Are posers, who's criteria for a car is how it function as an ego pedestal
B. Wouldn't know a driver's car if it ran them over
