Thanks! I still like it too. Look through the posts, and get a good welder on board and you should be all set!!

UPDATE: Approaching a year now with the JEGS and no issues. Yay, headache over! Exhaust is still going strong, no issues. I Lub it.

Cannot believe I missed this.
Great idea! Very impressed.

Just one thing.... I am sure others have said this so I don't want to go on about it but the placement is not so nice. Painting the housing black would help alot.

You haven't seen it because it was made SOOOO long ago (almost two years!) the post got buried. I think I was one of the first people to start this valve based and stock exhaust mod stuff.

Placement really doesn't bother me, they dont really stick out and when I do see them, I like it.. makes my car special. When you look at the car you dont really see them - blends in with the other silver bits on the exhaust. I think its the low angles of the shots that I took in the thread that make them look so awkward. I have to point them out to car people to even see them. Literally the only person that has pointed them out to me and asked about them the entire time I've had them installed is a BMW mechanic who did an oil change and had it up on a lift. You have to be quite far back to even start to see them..

Wow this is awesome.. just coming across this thread now. IMO this is how an exhaust should be done for our cars. Just as the M3 changes its character via throttle, steering, EDC.. it makes sense to have the exhaust do the same.

How are sales? Any updates for us?

We never sold any. I had a lot of bites, but no one stepped up. I dont think anyone trusted us or could afford it.. I thought the price was reasonable.. I dunno why to be honest!

I still love mine, no issues beyond the electrics.

Very cool, seems that this is the way exhaust is going now. A volume adjustment for the car! I like it!

Ya yunno after having it all this time, it really is like part of the car. If I want to have fun, hit the M button, then the valve button.. If I want to cruise on the highway, hit both buttons again. Its a no compromises mod.

Thanks for the kudos!

Just a long term update.. the exhaust is still working/sounding great. The jegs valves still work great too, but I also started getting the rattling when closed that someone else experienced. Its a slight ting ting that you can only hear when driving by a building and head the exhaust reflection. I dont know if they will replace them this far out.. worth a try I guess.

Wow this is a very interesting thread. I was always thinking of doing custom exhaust cutouts. I am glad someone has finally attempted it. Performance gains, and how does the low-end TQ feel?

I think I posted the dyno stuff in here?! Its a really old thread. I think you actually lose a bit of low end grunt when opening up an exhaust but gain in the higher rpm. I had plans to close them at the line and then have them auto open at just the right rpm, but I never got around to it.

The JEGS valves did eventually fail too (lasted 2x longer than race ready), but JEGS did replace them for free - its nice to deal with a company that stands behind their products.

The exhaust is still going strong and I LOVE it. Its the best mod I've done to a car, ever.

Just posting a long term update (sorry for all you old bump haters. )

I switched from the JEGS because they failed after two Northeast years or so and near the end they could not hold the flap in place and would ting-ting down the road. I have had the QTP valves on for two winters now, and although a lot more expensive, they're great. No dinging at idle and no issues with corrosion. so far, they're the winner. Hopefully I can get 3-4 years out of them.

After 8 years, still a great mod! I'm glad to see so many others enjoying it (and versions of..)!
