Hahaha. I got a Mac because my old Vaio laptop fell apart and runs slow as hell. This is my first Mac and after a few kinks learning Mac OS everything is great. The screen is awesome, and the mouse kicks ass with all the touch commands. And I still keep the Vaio around just for porn viewing, lol

like others have said, you can get this up under system prefs. if not, just hold down CTRL and do a regular click

Also, not being to network between my windows7 and mac laptops is a bit annoying. I prefer to DL on my PC and stream from it but like to move selective music and blueray movies between the two. PITB to move 8gig files.
you can save to specific folders, dont know why you are having this problem. The hard drive format does suck. specially since FAT32 isnt very reliable in partitions that are fairly large

I could care less about partitions. 4gb file size limits are ridiculous.

^^ That I agree with. Also, networking stuff is much more difficult on a Mac. But with both of those (and those PC fanboi idiots who don't realize you can right and left click on all Mac's) I still prefer a Mac when taking a laptop because of battery life alone. I still have the original 15" Pro (came out originally March 2006) and it runs like a champ.

I have a built PC at home because parts are cheap and I could make it much cheaper. For laptops though there is absolutely no comparison.

What kinda networking stuff are you talking about? I found it to be extremely easy. I have an airport extreme w/ an HHD hooked up to it. All computers in the house are able to see and access all other computers, including the HDD hooked up to the network. Screen sharing is dope when I dont feel like getting up to use the iMac when I'm in bed w/ my laptop and need to look something up on the other computer

and all computers access the same printer thru the network. It took me less than 5 min to set up all of this

Install Perian and Flip4Mac on that new Mac so you can watch WMV and other video formats. Both free.

You cant TRANSFER files larger tan 4gigs onto a FAT32 formatted drive. Mac uses a new updated formatting as does windows, neither of which work with one another.

.

I guess I never had to transfer files that big before

specially since all my stuff is on the mac side. I only went to PC world to play games and school programs that didnt have an OSX equivalent.

I think majority of people are just wasting money for the newest/coolest thing. but i'm still using the 400 bucks laptop that my wife bought a few years ago and it does everything just fine for me. surf net, email, office work, little bit of gaming, photo edit, burn movies, download torrent, watch porno, u name it. Still fast as hell.

i'm on windows 7 btw. got it free from my company. it's pretty neat. I see no reason to switch to a MAC unless you have to for some reason.

NTFS-3G allows for writing to NTFS-formatted drives from OSX for free.

Paragon HFS+ allows for read/write access to HFS+ formatted drives from Windows. It used to be free, but now you have to pay for it . I got it while it was free. Works very well.

Nice! I have found it easier to set up networks with PC, didn't say it was impossible on the Mac, just more work.

I will have to try out NTSF-3G. Get those movie backups off of my computer and onto my backup harddrive!! Those are the only files big enough that I was not able to transfer off of my computer.

Thanks. I'll look into them both. More to come.

BTW, the main problem I was having is that most of the blurays I have are 8-9 gigs.

Lol, welcome to Apple....their fucking devices and software that goes with it sucks the fucking cock.

Such a god damned pain in the ass trying to move music/photos/misc files on to and from my iphone or itouch.

Let it be said that I only have an iPhone 3GS because it cost me $100 and I only have an iTouch because I found it on the ground.

You realize you can drag and drop onto iPhone and iTouch right? It is a simple setting. You can also turn off auto backup and crap like that to make it really easy plug and play.

^there is a setting for manually adding/removing files

I prefer to sync everything and use playlist for dragging and dropping. Keeps your files updated if you changed the rating on the song, etc

When you plug into iTunes and it brings up your device in the list click on it and then in the Music and Pitctures and tabs like that it will either have Automatically sync or drag and drop. Either that or it is in the preferences I haven't looked in years so sorry for the foggy memory.
