iPhone 4 interference with remote key start

So I posted on this when I picked up my M3 E92 late 2009 a year ago. I put it down to some weird thing with my phone. I'm now looking for other posts.

Bottom line is that if I have my remote key and iPhone 4 in the same pocket I get all sorts of interference where sometime I actually have to put them in different pocket to allow the car to start. It's like the phone blocks out the key signal.

Anyone else had this problem?

Thanks
Nick

I noticed the same thing. Also happens when driving my wife's Lexus. Therefore it is an iPhone issue and not BMW.

I notice that the phone also interferes with the comfort access when opening the door and trunk.

Me too. Sometimes even different pockets makes it happen!

Why would you put your key and the iphone in the same pocket to begin with?

Same happened to me on my '07 335i. I just never put any proximity-based remotes in the same pocket anymore. Problem solved.

Odd issue since BMW pretty much only promotes the iPhone in their cars. And why is this issue only being reported with the iPhone? Seems like it wouldn't matter what phone was involved.
